“No,” Gemma answered. “There is no chance that he makes bail. He’s wanted in too many countries.”

“How about you tell us everything you know,” Louise said, taking out a tablet. She poised her fingers over it, ready to type it all up.

“It’ll take a while,” she said.

“That’s what we’re here for.”

It tookAmelia over three hours to share everything she knew of her soon-to-be ex-husband’s business. After that long chat, the three agents wanted to ask her more questions, but Wilder put his foot down. He walked the agents out of the building, assuring them that if they had more questions, they could reach Amelia.

“Let’s go home, love.” he said and grabbed her hand.

She was grateful.

“I feel so raw,” she whispered as Wilder let her into his home.

“That’s normal,” he assured her. “I’ll make you a cup of tea if you want to lie down for a bit.”

Amelia heaved a heavy sigh. “I’m not even sure what I feel. Sad. Angry. I’m just…”

“You poured your heart out. It’s only normal to be so overwhelmed.”

“Do you think we can ditch the tea? I just want to be in your arms for a bit.”

Wilder smiled at her. “Anything you want, love.”

They settled on Wilder’s bed, holding onto each other. Amelia relished the sound of Wilder’s beating heart and the rhythm of his breath. It was soothing to be so close to him. Peaceful and comforting.

She knew down the very core of her that he would never let anything bad happen to her. She was his mate, and he loved her.

“Wilder,” she whispered. “Do you think you can take me home?”

He stiffened. “Yes, I can,” he replied, his words rough.

“I mean, back to the US. Back to New York City. I want to put an ocean between me and Greg for a bit. And,” she added. “I would like to meet your family.”

He pulled away to look into her eyes. “Did you just ask to meet my family?”

She nodded. “Rylee is about to give birth, isn’t she? You should be there for that celebration. You won’t want to leave me alone here. Not after everything I told Europol, but you don’t have to leave my side. Not if you take me with you.”

“If my family meets you, they’ll know what you are to me. What we are to each other…”

“That’s okay,” she replied, nestling closer into him. “They’ll find out about me eventually.”

“Amelia?”

“I don’t want to be apart from you, Wilder. Ever.” Her heart pounded impossibly fast. It was almost hurting from beating with so much speed. “I know you don’t want me to rush into any decisions, and I know you’ll probably tell me we don’t have to do anything just yet. Not while all of the Greg stuff is still happening, but…”

She sat up to look into his eyes. “I have already lost five years of my life, and I think the best way to recover is to move on. To make my new life exactly what I want it to be. And it just so happens that I want my life to be with you.”

Wilder was shocked into silence, and so she went on.

“I’m not saying we need to be mated just yet if you want to wait. But I want to be with you, Wilder. I want to share my life with you and have everything I thought impossible. Love. Family. Children.”

“A library,” he added.

She giggled. “A library too.”
