“In my experience, most families dislike one another. Particularly siblings.” Mason shrugs. “Now shush. I’m on the phone, and it’s rude to interrupt.”

I’m stunned into silence for a moment and wonder exactly when he started thinking of me as family. Then I pout, “Awe, that was so sweet,” I tease, and then punch his arm. “Now give me the phone!” I snatch it out of his hands, and lift it to my ear.

“-So just ask her if she’s seen my son!” Milo snaps.

“Why are you asking if I know where Cooper is?” I ask, my worry for Coop stronger than my desire to explain myself.

“He lost his shit when he realized you were gone. He ran off.” Milo practically sneers.

“How long?” I ask.

“Three hours.”

“I’ll be right there.” I use my magic to get myself put together enough that I don’t look like a dying rat, and Mason sighs.

“If you need me, I’m just a call of my name away.” He crosses his arms, and I pat his shoulder.

“Thank you for caring,” I tell him, before using my magic, once more, to appear outside their door. I knock, and when the door opens, a woman I recognize, but despise, opens the door.

“Can I help you?” She lifts a brow, and I can’t help but notice how utterly unfazed she is. She’s a fucking robot. Meanwhile, I’m a mess. Sure, I was already a mess, but my worry for Cooper is making me feel like an unhinged jack-in-the-box…

“I’m here to help find Cooper,” I announce, stepping into her and pushing the door open further. “I might know where he is,” I say louder, and as the three men all make their way to the door, I flinch.

Milo looks like he wants me dead. Bellamy looks ready to deep dive into a sea of pussy, and Clay just looks scared.

“Why wouldyouknow where my son is?” Tiffany’s snide voice makes me want to throat punch her.

“I’m not a violent woman, but if you don’t move, I’ll break your nose,” I say calmly, plastering a fake smile on my face. Tiffany gasps, and Milo steps up behind her, puts his hand on her shoulder, and pulls her back into him.

“Watch how you talk to themotherofmyson.” The look he gives me could burn a hole through diamonds, but his words? That was a low fucking blow. Which was the whole point.

“You can be an asshole once we find Cooper. Now, I know where to look for him, so you can either come with me, or I can go alone. Either way, I’m going after him. Now!” I announce, spinning away from them, and marching down the hall. If they don’t follow me, I’ll use my magic to get there.

I don’t know if I’m happy, or disappointed, when I hear the four of them following close behind me.

“I’ll drive,” I snap, holding my hand out to Milo, so he can pass me the keys. He sneers at me, looking at my hand like it’s made of acid. “Fine, you stubborn fucking brat!” I throw my hands up and stomp down the hall faster, swiping away my tears.

“You should just stay here. You aren’t needed. Just tell us where to go,” Tiffany says, and my eye twitches. I bite my lip, holding in my reply, but she pushes. “Cooper is just throwing a dramatic little tantrum, he’s fine. He’s been like this since he was a baby. Always crying for everything,” she scoffs, and that's it. That’s all I can take. The straw that broke the camel's back.

“You disgusting, pathetic, evil woman!” I shout, pure acidic hate-filled words flying from my lips before I can stop them. “YOU abandoned him. YOU are the reason he’s terrified of making messes. YOU are the fucking reason that sweet boy has damage. If I could drag your face across the concrete, I would!” I scream at her, my anger reaching a roaring boil, and spilling over the edge of the pot.

“You bitch, Cooper is my son!”

“Cooper is the child you birthed, but he is not your son! You don’t deserve him! You left him, for money.” This time, I jam my finger into her chest and shove. I want to throttle her. The overwhelming desire to shave her head bald makes my heart race. I have never felt such visceral hatred for another being in all my life.

“Mason,” I whisper, and the Dark Cupid appears behind me.

“At your service.”e He smirks, and I roll my eyes when Tiffany screams. The three men just stare with wide eyes.

“Mason, this is Tiffany. I would like to kindly request, that you do your fucking worst.” My voice gets a bit demonic there for a second, making Clay smirk. At least it seems like he doesn’t completely hate me. Yet.

“It would be my honor,” Mason purrs, and then disappears.

A shiver runs down my spine, and I can tell he’s just cannon-blasted Tiffany with an avalanche of self-hatred, doubt, and insecurity. She curls in on herself, and I snap my gaze to Milo.

“Move your ass. Cooper is alone and upset. He’s in danger,” I hiss, and even though he glares at me, he doesn’t argue.

We all climb into the SUV a few moments later, and since Milo insisted on driving, I sat in the back seat. Tiff is riding passenger but hasn’t said another word, while Clay and Bell sit in the two seats in front of me.
