Page 33 of Love is Cupid

“For the record, I never tried to hurt any of you. My affection for Cooper is genuine, and my feelings for all of you were as well,” I say, as Milo drives well over the speed limit.

“You lied. About who you are, about what you are!” Milo snaps, and I scoff.

“Oh, I’m sorry. Did you want me to walk in the front door like, ‘Hi, I’m True. I’m a Cupid, and you three are so terrible at love, I’ve been sent in on a special assignment to help you dick weasels find happiness!’”

“Mean,” Clay mumbles, and I cross my arms.

“You’re right. I’m sorry. Neither of you two are dick weasels. Just him.” I nod my chin at Milo, who glares, and I glare right back. “I’m sorrySir.Please forgive me. I’ve been a very bad girl, and need to be punished,” I snark, and then smirk when I feel his lust spike. Serves him right.

At first, I was sad, but now I’m just fucking angry. He assumed the worst of me and didn’t even let me explain. I’m a good person, and he let himself get swept away by his anger.

If he doesn’t know by now, that I’m nothing like Tiffany, he never will.

Bellamy snorts a laugh, and I flick the back of his head. He was shooting me death glares too.

“Hey!” he yelps, rubbing the back of his head, and Clay snickers.

“Make a right, and then turn left on Maywheel,” I tell Milo, who glares at me in the mirror every few seconds.

“Fucking Cupid,” he hisses, and I roll my eyes.

“You know what? Fuck you! I helped all three of you. My job is to help people fall in love, but it’s not like I can go around flapping my wings at everyone! I did everything I could to help you all find happiness. So I fell for you in the process, sue me!” I slump in my seat, but Clay and Bell turn around to stare me down.

I flick a bit of pink sparkly magic dust at them, and they both sneeze.

Milo parks the car and turns to look at me.

“The fair?” he asks, and I nod my head.

“Your son likes it here.” I meet his eyes and stare right back. He holds eye contact for several seconds and then shakes his head, and we all get out of the car.

“Where do you think–” Milo starts, but I walk away from all of them. I know where he is.

As I approach that evil spinning death trap, I see a head of blonde hair. Coop is sitting in the grass, picking at it, as he stares at the ground.

“Oh, thank goodness, Cooper!” I rush the kid, but Milo dashes past me, practically pushing me away. Thankfully, Cooper is a quick mofo and dodges his father easily.

“Cooper!” Milo shouts, and I smile, holding my arms open wide as Cooper swerves and sprints for me, leaping into my arms. He’s got the biggest smile on his face, and I hug him tightly, as he wraps his little arms around my neck, and attempts to strangle me with his love.

“True!” Cooper sobs, and I rub his back, soothing him until he calms down.

“Cooper, hunny, come here to mommy,” Tiffany says behind me, and my back goes ramrod straight.

Cooper lifts his head, and I turn, so we’re both looking at her. My heart sinks when I think he’s about to go to her. Instead, he burrows into me and hides his face from Tiffany.

“No,” is all Cooper says, and I lift my brow. Go on, bitch, try to force him. I will sell your eyebrows on eBay to the cheapest creeper…

“Cooper–”

“He said no,” I snap, but because all my attention was focused on Tiff, I missed Milo approaching. He snatches Cooper out of my arms, and I bite my lip. Milo is his father and has never hurt Cooper. I can’t stop him from taking his son from me. I’m not his mother. Even though he’d be better off with Casper as his mother, than Tiffany.

“We’re going home, Coop. Fuck, you scared me, kid. You can’t do this ever again. How’d you even get here?” he asks, and Coop shrugs.

“I walked. It took a long time,” he says, and I nod. It’s a short car ride, but a long walk, especially for a kid. But because it’s so close, it’s easy to find. Fucking hell. “I asked Siri how to get here,” he adds, holding up a smartwatch he clearly stole from Milo.

“Wow. I don’t know if I’m impressed, or worried about your future,” I tease. I step forward to ruffle his hair, but Milo steps away from me, keeping Cooper out of my reach.

I consider my next words carefully, as I watch Tiffany step up beside Milo. I swear to fuck, he’s only letting her near Cooper to piss me off.
