"I would rather go back than let something happen to anyone because of me," I said, staring down at the sand around my toes.

"Harper," he snapped, grabbing my upper arm and pulling me to a stop again. "You can never go back." His grip tightened on my arm. "Not just because they will kill you but because Christian will die to protect you." My gaze locked with his. "Going back would put everyone in more danger because they will have leverage over us."

"Leverage?" I asked, pinching my face. How would going back give anyone leverage? It would only make the Villa Boys back off.

"Whether you go back or not," Aiden said, releasing my arm, "this war is happening."

"What does that have to do with leverage?"

"You," he said. "All of us, Christian, Chloe, Me, the guys, they'll use you against us. You can't go back, Harper."

I nodded in understanding. There was no going back to the Southside. If I left the Valley, I'd have to leave town, which was a terrifying thought.

Aiden turned away from me and moved towards the pier, and I stepped in line with him.

"So, what did you mean you just got her back?"

"We broke up in freshman year," he said.

"Broke up?" My head jerked up to him. "You dated?" I didn't remember Chloe ever mentioning anything about Aiden's freshman year, or any other year, for that matter.

"You didn't know?" His brows knitted together. I shook my head. "Yeah, for almost all of freshman year."

Chloe and I were friend's freshman year, but we all attended different schools until sophomore year when Valley View Prep closed its doors. Chloe had always told me everything, so I didn't know why she never mentioned Aiden.

"What happened?" I stepped under the pier and letting the water swirl around my feet.

"I fucked up," he muttered, leaning up against one of the massive pillars holding the pier. "And I don't want to do that again." He didn't want to tell me what he did, and I wasn't going to push either. It was obvious that whatever he did, he seriously regretted it.

"We'll figure this out," I reassured him. "We should head back and see if Christian had any luck with Chloe." I spun in the sand. "Looks like they found us."

Christian and Chloe were walking toward us."You want to trade?" Chloe said when they made it to the pier.

"Yes," I said, sliding an arm around Christian's waist. "Is everything okay?"

"Everything is good?" Her gaze flicking to Aiden. "I need to talk to Aiden, though." I nodded, and the two strolled away, hand in hand, back towards the beach house.

"How did it go?"

"She's going to stay in the second bedroom of the pool house for a few days while her parents are away," he said. "Hopefully, we can figure this out before she has to go home."

"Will you and Aiden be staying on the couch?" I laughed, remembering the bedding on the couch before we left to come here.

"I can't speak for Aiden, but I think I'm going to stay with you." He curled his fingers around my hips and pulled me against his firm, hard-naked chest. His lips pressed to mine. "We should go back to the room."

I nodded, but as we turned to head towards the house, my eyes flashed to the spot just below the boardwalk where we'd watched Maverick and the blonde. I wanted to be that spontaneous, even if it was only once. My mind filled with the memories of Maverick and the feeling of Christian's hands on me, making my stomach flutter like it did that night.

Sliding my hand into Christian's, I yanked him towards the same spot. The light from the boardwalk shined over us, but darkness from the wall that held the boardwalk over the beach covered this spot. If anyone walked to the edge, they would see us, and something about that sent adrenaline coursing through my veins.

Placing my hands against his chest, I shoved his back against the concrete wall into the shadows. Christian didn't say anything; a cocky smirk tugged at the corners of his mouth like he knew what I was doing.

A wave of nerves washed over me as I reached out, flicked the button on his jeans, and slowly slid the zipper down. Dropping down in the sand to my knees, I tugged his jeans and boxers down, setting his cock free. I sucked in a breath. It was the first time I'd really seen it. It was huge and hard. Hard for me.

My hand wrapped around his thick girth, slowly stroking him up and down. He sucked in a sharp breath as I stroked tip to root, slowly rolling my wrist as I moved. I glanced up through my lashes, continuing my movements. He tilted his head back, and his lips parted as his chest rose and fell with ragged breaths. The look of pleasure on his face with his movements sent my confidence skyrocketing.

I wanted to bring Christian the same pleasure he'd brought me.

Gripping him at the base, I leaned forward, brushing my lips against the tip before licking my lips and tasting the evidence of his arousal. I flicked my tongue out, tasting more of him.
