"I can fix this," Jayden whispered, his front so close to my back that I could feel his body heat. "You could fix this." Every ounce of my being wanted to make this better for her. It was blatantly obvious she was hurting, but I wasn't going to let myself fall down this rabbit hole again and end up making the situation worse.

"I think I've done enough," I muttered. "Stay away from me." I shoved my elbow back into his rib cage. He didn't flinch. Jayden's large hands gripped my hips, forcing me back against him. His fingertips curved into the tender skin of my hipbone. I didn't bother struggling against his grip, there was no point, and I wasn't going to give him that satisfaction. He got off on the struggle.

"I always get what I want, Sadie," he purred, not so much as a threat but more as a warning. "You can fight it all you want, but in the end, I will win. You should remember that." His grip loosened, and I took the opportunity to get away quickly, putting as much distance between Jayden and me as possible.

JAYDEN

Sittingon my throne on the balcony that overlooked the large dance floor of the nightclub, my gaze stayed fixed on a very intoxicated Sadie. She wasn't much of a drinker. I'd counted three mixed drinks she'd ordered from the bar, but who knows what she had before she got here. She'd never been to the nightclub before, and I wasn't sure what brought her here tonight.

Sadie was hot, and tonight, her clothes fit a little tighter than usual on her toned little body. Her hips swayed to the music as her dark hair fell down her bare back. Her strappy little shirt was completely backless, telling me she didn't have a bra on. She'd attracted a lot of attention the minute she'd walked in the door, but her resting bitch face scared most of them off. Now she was drunk, and it was fading.

When she showed up, it was obvious she was out of her element, but after a few drinks, she'd loosened up. I'd watched as guy after guy tried to dance their way into her space, and she'd fought them all off, but that was three drinks ago. Now, she was obviously trashed.

Since I wasn't up for murdering some poor unknowing fucker who touched her tonight, I decided it was time for her to go. Even though I'd informed Sadie she was my Rally Girl, it wasn't public information yet, so men didn't know she was off-limits, but they would soon.

My foot met the dance floor, and the crowds parted like a shark swimming through a school of fish—predator vs. prey.

"Hey, Jay," a drunk blonde smiled. I didn't bother engaging with her. I was down here on a mission, and that mission's name was Sadie.

I spotted her across the dance floor. A tall blonde guy behind her with his fingers curled into her hips as he moved his body with hers. Anger twisted in my gut.

"Take your hands off her," I growled close enough that only he could hear me. "Or I'll break every bone in your fucking hands." His hands dropped as he backed away; his eyes went wide. Sadie didn't miss a beat like she didn't even know what was happening around her. "She's property of the team."

He nodded in understanding before stumbling over himself to get away.

Sadie stumbled forward, nearly falling face first, but I grabbed her arm in time, pulling her back to her feet.

"You're drunk," I slipped an arm around her waist. "Let's get you home."

"I'm not having sex with you," she slurred as her hazy blue eyes flicked up to meet mine.

"That's what they all say, groupie," I muttered, carrying her toward the exit.

"I'm not all." She scowled. "I'm not fucking you!"

"So you've said." She wasn't like other girls. It was what initially attracted me to her—well, after the big bright blue eyes and lusciously full lips.

Pushing through the front door with one arm wrapped around her waist, almost entirely supporting her, I dragged her out of the club.

"Sadie," someone barked from the two-mile-long line of people waiting to get in.

"Alyssa," Sadie slurred. "Hey."

"Wow," Alyssa huffed, brows furrowing as she crossed her arms over her chest and cocked her hip to the side. "You're unfucking believable."

"What?" Sadie's mouth twisted with confusion.

"They won't let me in anymore because of you," she growled. "But you're trashed and leaving with your baller. Must be nice."

Sadie's narrowed gaze flicked from Alyssa up to me, her eyes growing wide as if she'd just realized it was me.

"Wait, no, Alyssa," Sadie stammered. "I didn't. He's not."

"Whatever, Sadie," Alyssa scoffed and stormed off.

"You did that on purpose." Sadie scowled, shoving me off her and nearly tumbling over. She was cute when she was mad.
