How dare he treat my mate this way?

He takes off out of the room, leaving the four of us behind together.

“I’m going to go make sure he doesn’t put me in the ugliest dress known to mankind,” Anna says.

She leans back, pressing a kiss against my lips before taking off after Aksel.

I turn to look at Blaze and Griffyn but the dragon quickly gets up and leaves too.

“Thanks for having my back, back there,” I say.

Griffyn smirks. “I couldn’t letourgirl be in danger.”

I think he’s waiting for a response. For me to tell him to back off, but my instincts don’t want that and neither do I. I thought he got that when I let him into bed last night.

I’ve encouraged them before and I’m doing it now. I want Griffyn in Anna’s life. Out of our team, he’s the one who has always had my back and has been a friend.

Blaze is too cut off from the world and Aksel has always been an asshole.

“Glad you feel that way,” I say, smiling.

His expression relaxes as he leans back in his chair.

“So you really don’t mind her and me being together too?” He asks.

“How could I, Griff? You’re good for her and as long as I have her, I don’t mind you being there too,” I say honestly.

“Good. I wasn’t about to give her up anyways.” He tucks his hands behind his head, smirking at me.

I sit down next to him at the table.

“Do you think Aksel will back off from Anna now that we’ve mated? He has to know she’s not going anywhere. If I’m on his team, he’s going to have to deal with Anna.”

“Yes, he will. He’s always been stuck in his own ways, so who knows how he’ll react. Once he comes to terms with things it should be better,” Griffyn says.

“You’ll have our back at the ball, right? In case something happens?” I ask.

“Of course. Nothing is going to happen to her,” he declares.

“Do you think,” I start but think better of it.

“Come on man you gotta finish your question now,” Griffyn shoves his shoulder into me.

“Alright. Well, do you think you should warn her how people might act at the ball?” I ask carefully, continuing before he freaks out on me, “You guys are together now, officially right? She told me this morning. She’s already going to be in overprotective mode since our bond is so new. She could use the warning.”

Griffyn stares at me, pain and shame shining in his eyes before he slowly nods.

“You’re right, I probably should. I didn’t even think about it. I was so caught up in her safety it didn’t even register where we’ll be going.”

I answer the unasked question in his gaze. “She’s not going to judge you for one second. Instead, she’s going to hate those people for looking down on you. We might have to hold her back.”

“Right,” he says but it’s soft and he doesn’t sound confident.

I try a different angle. “Maybe we should butter her up with orgasms before we leave so she’s more agreeable.”

Griffyn throws his head back laughing. “I don’t think she would say no to that.”

He quickly clams back up, but I’ve done enough. He isn’t retreating into himself.
