Really, I should turn around and try to maintain my modesty, but that’s not the game. I grip the hem of my shirt, slowly rolling up and over my body before tossing it to him. My lacy black bra makes my tits look amazing, I picked it for that very reason. Aksel’s eyes are glued to them with unwavering focus. His body language is casual as he sits as stiff as normal, his lips are still in a perpetual frown. If his eyes weren’t molten fire on my body, I might get self-conscious. Next, I unzip my skirt, turning around before dropping it to the floor and showing the matching panties.

I step into the dress and pull it up to cover me before turning back to Aksel. He stands slowly, maintaining his composure, and zips up the dress without touching my skin.

My reflection in the full-length mirror is elegant and suave. Something I’m certain I’ve never been.

I love my style and feel like my reflection shines through my normal clothes, but I can’t help feeling beautiful in these perfect clothes.

“No. Next one.”

Of course, Akshole ruins the moment.

“Why? I look great and we could get this one and be done,” I say, glancing up to look in his eyes in the mirror. He’s directly behind me, close enough to touch but he doesn’t make contact.

“You need to try on all five. It’s too plain for you.”

He doesn’t explain further before unzipping the dress. I shimmy out of it, moving on to the next one. Aksel’s eyes never leave me. The following three go much the same way- I think they look fine but Aksel isn’t pleased.

The only one left is the red one.

“Red is too bold. Aren’t I trying to fit in?”

Aksel shakes his head sharply. “You’ll stand out no matter what you wear, it’s best to embrace it.”

I force the heat away from my cheeks. Did he just compliment me? Surely not.

I distract myself from his words by pulling the dress on.

He moves inches away from my back. I can feel the heat of his breath on my ear. “You can’t wear a bra with this one.”

A shiver runs down my back. This taunting game has turned heated.

I reach back to unlatch the bra with one hand while holding the material up in the front but I can’t get the angle right.

“Let me.”

I barely feel his fingers against my skin before the latch comes free allowing me to slip it off. He doesn’t move back, helping me lace up the back. It’s intricate and certainly made for someone else to tie.

The dress has extra material in the front that bunches and swoops, showing just the top of my breasts. It clings to my curves without looking too small, like the dress was made for my body. The thin straps look so delicate, the slightest tug would break them.

I can picture my blonde hair pulled back, red lipstick, and smokey eyes completing the look.

“Perfect,” Aksel whispers in my ear.

I hate to admit he’s right. The other dresses don’t compare to this one. Still. “I’m going to stand out.”

“Like I said, you’ll be the talk of the ball whether you’re in red or not. Might as well look incredible while jealous bitches glare at you.”

I look into his eyes. “Why would that happen?”

He runs his knuckle against my neck with the lightest touch. “Let’s just say many women have tried to lock someone from our team down. The fact that you’re mated to Felix will make them green with jealousy. I doubt Griffyn will be able to hide his feelings for you, they shine on his face every time he looks at you, which will add to the fire.”

A smile tugs at my lips. Aksel is one of the most observant people I know, hearing him say that about Griffyn must mean it’s true.

The curtain rustles. “How’s it going? Do you need me?”

The spell breaks. Aksel steps back, clearing his throat slightly.

“Wait there.” His voice is harsh but I don’t reprimand him. I didn’t want that moment to end. It’s been like a cease-fire, one I want to continue.
