“We sense our mates through their arousal.”

“I’ve certainly been turned on around you enough.”

“I’m so sorry Anna. I found out the first time we met behind the bar. I never wanted to hurt you, I just-”

“I don’t want any excuses Griffyn. You knew what we were, but kept it to yourself. You didn’t feed me blood so I wouldn’t find out until you were forced to. We were together for god’s sake! We had a relationship and you still didn’t tell me!”

“Had? Don’t talk in the past tense Vixen, please. Let me explain.”

“No!”

“What the fuck is happening here?” Aksel asks, squinting at Griffyn. “Why are you two fighting?”

I can feel Griffyn’s eyes on my face but keep my head held high in the opposite direction.

I wait for Griffyn to answer, but he keeps his mouth shut.

“Well?” Aksel asks, exasperated.

I whirl around, glaring at the incubus. “Well?”

His eyes soften. “Vixen…”

“Tell them!”

He shuts his eyes. “I had to give Anna my blood to heal her from the gunshot wounds, and that’s how she found out… that we… are mates.”

Blaze’s eyes widen and Aksel steps back.

“You’re mates?” Blaze asks.

“Yes, we are fucking mates and he didn’t tell me! He knew this whole time and kept that information to him-fucking-self!” I shout.

“Fuck,” Blaze says.

“Exactly. I need to be alone and heal up from what happened. Felix, will you help me upstairs?”

I wish I could stomp away on my own right now, but collapsing would ruin the exit.

No one stops him as he lifts me into his arms and carries me up.

“You can stay,” I tell him once I’m settled in the bed.

“Good, it would be hard to get me to leave you alone right now.”

He tilts his head, giving me his neck.

“Isn’t it hard for you to present your neck to me? You’re an alpha male shifter,” I ask.

“For anyone else, it would be a concrete no, but you’re my mate Anna. You’re the only person I would ever do this for. I trust you,” he whispers, moving closer and wrapping his arms around me.

I dig my fangs in and taste what can only be described as pure Felix. That perfect tinge that tells me he’s my mate is only slightly ruined by the Griffyn revelation.

Felix stands me up so I can get changed and wash the blood off me.

“He should have told you.”

Something about his tone of voice sounds off. I spin around so I can look into his eyes.
