“I said nothing.”

Griffyn stays quiet in the corner. He’s been withdrawn ever since the incident with Anna.

“We know it can’t be nothing. You hesitated to ask for this help, so tell us what it is,” Anna says.

“I just have to run a quick errand. I’ll be back,” I try.

“Just tell us, man. We are going to get it out of you either way,” Felix says.

“You’re going to fight, aren’t you?” Aksel asks.

Damn him.

“Why are you lying about this Blaze?” Anna asks.

“You aren’t coming.”

Even Griffyn looks at me like I’m crazy.

Anna throws her head back and laughs. “Don’t be dense. Of course we are coming. Blaze you aren’t going alone. We are a team and you need backup so accept it.”

“It’s not safe. You remember what happened last time we went to a fight,” I say pointedly.

“Exactly! That’s why you need us there,” she says.

It’s not safe. I can’t bring her into this.

“She’s right man. You’re not going alone,” Felix says, crossing his arms and staring me down.

He’s become a lot more vocal and firm in his opinions since Anna came along. Especially when it means something to Anna.

“You’re outvoted Blaze,” Griffyn chimes in, voice hollow.

I notice Anna’s eyes soften at his words.

“I refuse,” I try again.

They’re all ganging up on me, but that won’t change a thing.

“If you don’t bring us, we will just follow you which is more dangerous. The best way to keep us all safe is to stick together,” Aksel says.

Fuck. Why are they like this?

“Fucking fine, but you listen to me and follow what I say. It’s tomorrow night.”

“Done.” Anna claps her hands once.

I guess we’re doing this.

Twenty Five

“Griffyn, wait,” Aksel says.

I keep my eyes focused ahead on Blaze as he fumes at the counter.

“What?” Griffyn snaps.
