“Save it,” she says. “You were never nice to me, Jake. Even when you gave me that money, it was only a bribe to get me to put in a good word with Amanda. To try and get her to give you another chance. You knew she’d never believe another word that came out of your slimy mouth.”

He growls at her. “You’ll wish you’d saved me.”

“I don’t think so,” she tells him, looking up at as. “Is it cool if we stay for this part? I know it’s not usual.”

“It’s fine,” I tell them, knowing it’s accepted under pack law for family to witness an execution. I look at Rachel. “You can go home once you unbind him. It’s probably best if you’re not here for this part, since your pack doesn’t have an issue with him.”

She nods, moving to hug Amanda first.

“Okay, get ready,” she says, before she breaks the magic that’s holding him to the ground.

She teleports out of the room, blinking out of sight in seconds.

Jake jumps to his feet and growls at us, getting ready to shift into his wolf form.

“Don’t be pathetic,” Jillian tells him. “Take the consequences of what you did like a man.”

I use one fist to slam him back down to the ground, where Dante crouches swiftly and holds his head still with both hands. He nods at Parker and Amanda.

Parker looks at Amanda, and she nods slowly before Parker crouches to hold down his ankles.

I crouch and hold down his arm. Jillian does the same at the other side.

Amanda kneels at his shoulder, and we all watch her wolf rise to the surface.

“You’ve lost your mind,” she tells him. “I already made it clear we had no future, and you couldn’t accept it. You put me through some awful shit to try and force me to want you. Well, I did, so well done on that part. Well done on pushing me back to a place where true happiness wasn’t an option and my only real chance at a family was the one guy who didn’t call me names and look at me weird. You know what I think, Jake? I think we were never fated. We were only fated to reject each other. That’s why I got to meet my true mates when I let you go. You’ll never get to meet yours.”

“You are mine,” he roars, his eyes glowing and every muscle in his body contorting.

She smiles ruefully. “There’s the proof that you’ll never let me go. That’s why we can’t let you live.”

Her eyes glow as she holds her hand over his throat. Her nails become claws and she ends his life with one swift movement. He struggles against all of us before he stops moving.

A single tear drips from her eye as her wolf goes back under the surface.

She looks up at Jillian as Jake stops moving.

Her friend starts to cry silently.

She closes Jake’s eyes and moves to her side, hugging Jillian at the same time as Danny.

It’s finally over.

Chapter sixty-one

Dante

Amandadidthehardpart. I wasn’t sure she’d be ready for something like that, but she was strong, and she did what needed to be done to protect our pack. I’m proud of her, and I know Parker and Sean are, too. Jillian surprised me when she cried. The way she acted around Jake, I wasn’t sure she had any warm feelings left toward him. I guess I was wrong.

“Okay,” Jillian says, as she wipes away her tears, and breaks two hugs at once. “I’m fine. I don’t need to be here for the next part. I should go call my mom.”

Amanda and Danny get to their feet when she does, and Amanda squeezes her hand before she leaves with her Alpha.

“I can turn him into dust and scatter his ashes someplace,” I offer.

Amanda could probably do that, too, but she might have had enough firsts for one night.

“That would be great,” Amanda says, smiling at me weakly.
