The spell takes seconds and doesn’t leave behind any trace.

Jake is gone. It’s like he never existed.

I move over to where she is and hug her close.

I don’t think she regrets what she had to do, but she’s sad about it.

She knew the guy for a long time, and he wasn’t always unstable.

What he lost did that to him. Losing her is unthinkable to me.

I can understand going crazy without that person you love in your live.

I can’t understand hurting them to try and get them back.

She sighs as she lets me go. “This day definitely didn’t turn out like I thought it would.”

“At least it ends with us all crawling into the same bed together,” I tell her, with a hopeful glance.

It brings out a small smile. “I like that idea.”

“We can pretend like it’sGroundhog Day. We get a do-over.”

“No, it’s just called another day,” she tells me, sounding a little more like herself. “I definitely don’t want to replay any of what happened today.”

“I was thinking more about taping over what happened today, with what should have happened.”

“Well, that does sound good,” she admits, yawning a little.

I turn to Sean and Parker, watching as they put the table and chairs back in the usual place.

“Do-over day tomorrow. Puppy pile tonight. I’m going to lock the doors while Parker gets something made for breakfast!”

“Breakfast?” Parker asks, as I dart to the door.

“It’s almost eleven p.m.” Sean murmurs.

I head down the stairs and lock up. By the time I get back and lock the upstairs door, Parker’s looking through the fridge.

“So, what are we having?” I ask him, raising my eyebrow.

“Something fast,” he tells me, clearly still thinking about it. “We haven’t eaten all day.”

“That can’t be good for the baby,” Sean adds, frowning.

“Where did Amanda go?” I ask, not seeing her in the main room.

“Bathroom,” Parker tells me. “I’m never losing track of where she is again.”

He starts putting stuff out on the counter and I realize I also haven’t showered all day.

No way does my mate want to sleep next to me when I’m an unwashed mess.

“I’m grabbing a shower,” I tell them.

“Take your time,” Parker says. “Dinner’s going to take a minute.”

“Three courses would be good,” Sean tells him.
