Great. Now she’s delving into the mystical to put me off Jake.

“Good night, Jillian.”

“There are signs, Amanda. They’re all around us. If something doesn’t feel right, it’s because it’s not.”

I leave the room and close the door.

When I step back into the bedroom, Jake’s there looking around for me.

“Oh, thank Apollo, there you are.”

He’s wearing a matching outfit to mine. It’s kind of funny. We look like twins.

“Sorry, Jillian … I think she isn’t feeling well after everything.”

I close the door, feeling my skin flush at the realization that we’re alone together in his room at night.

“I told mom to check in on her. Ed told me she was talking crazy on the drive home.”

“She still seems to be doing that.”

He sighs. “Mom will deal with it. Come on, you must be tired.”

I do feel kind of exhausted. I move toward him, and he pulls the sheets back.

“Pick your side,” he offers, like a gentleman.

I get under the covers, moving to the right to make room for him.

I sweep my hair up to make sure it’s all behind me.

He slips in close, putting an arm around my middle.

Everything in me suddenly screams awake.

I’m lying in bed with my true mate.

It feels too good to be true.

He leans in and kisses me softly on the tip of the nose.

“Sweet dreams, my mate.”

“Are you really tired?” I ask.

He yawns. “Sorry. Yeah. Stayed up too late last night playing games.”

He closes his pretty eyes and I gaze at him as my own eyelids start to get heavier.

By this time tomorrow, we’ll be official.

I can hardly wait.

IslapJakehardacross the face. Dante had a good idea about using magic to force him to talk, and now that he’s been spelled to be honest, he just needs to wake up to let us question him again.
