“Nicu and I grew up together. We both trained in the same gym when I took gymnastics in Romania.”

“Nicu,” Kenzie said dreamily. “What a romantic name.”

I felt the hairs on the back of my neck tingle, and a hand clamped down hard on my shoulder. “I need to take you home.” Dmitri’s voice was impartial but was also laced with something ominous.

“I’m not finished with my drink.” I lifted my beer up, acting as if he didn’t make my heart speed erratically.

“Yes, you are.” He yanked it out of my hand and poured out the rest into the half-filled pitcher in front of me without remorse. Stunned, I stared at the white foam, capping the lip of the pitcher as the bubbles slowly receded.

“Stop tainting our shitty beer with your crappy IPAs.” Nick drew my attention with his arm slung around Kenzie, not acting surprised over Dmitri’s actions. Nick was a difficult one to read because there was always a smile behind the comments he made. I never knew if he was joking or not. Roman slid in next to Theo with a smirk on his lips, but I was too tired to read between the lines.

When I gazed up at Dmitri, my breath hitched. He ran his tongue over his upper lip, watching me while his fingers dug into my shoulder. “Don’t make me tell you again, Sorina.”

It wasn’t in my nature to concede, but I did. “Fine. I’m ready to go home, anyway.”

I said goodnight to everyone except Axel, who was off entertaining a group of girls that were hanging on to his every word. As usual, Dmitri barely acknowledged anyone. He gripped my elbow, leading me out of the place, and ignored the twenty or so people giving him props as we passed by.

Holding out the passenger door to his car for me, I slid in, not wanting to engage him in conversation. He wasn’t in the mood, and I wasn’t trying to provoke him. Because this time, his silence really meant he wanted to be left alone.

His sports car roared through the night, and only the low bass from the speakers bounced between us until I couldn’t hold it in anymore. “He’s a childhood friend.”

“Who?” he asked, deceptively soft.

“Nicu. We were in gymnastics together. We grew up together.”

“He didn’t seem like only a friend.”

I honestly couldn’t believe he was so irrational. Was he actually going to question me about this? We were already dancing as close to the flames as possible before the fire consumed us, and this little sham of what we were doing was going to burn us. “Half the women in this school would like to be more than friends with you, and you question me about Nicu?”

“Believe me, if I wanted another woman, I’d only have to snap my fingers, and she’d be on her knees, begging to deep throat me.”

His blunt words made me cringe. The thought of Dmitri with another woman made my chest constrict. Also, the disheartening realization of what he said was probably true. “Is that supposed to make me feel special?”

“Take it however you want, but it’s the truth.”

“Take me home.” I crossed my arms and focused on the full moon illuminating the dark, starless sky blanketed by thick gray clouds.

“Do you remember what I said to you earlier today, zaychik?”

You said many things. Who was I kidding? He barely strung five words together most of the time. “No.”

“Wrong answer.” He clenched the steering wheel so tight, the cuts on his knuckles were going to reopen. “Try again.”

“I can’t keep up with everything you’ve said,” I huffed out and wondered why I was trying deliberately to provoke him. Perhaps because he was being unreasonably overbearing again. And I still couldn’t get past the part where he mentioned deep throating. An unwanted image of a redhead on her knees, gagging on his long, thick cock, popped into my head. My cheeks heated, and I again questioned my sanity. I guess I could blame it on the full moon.

“Sorina, I will give you one more chance to think back to what I distinctly told you in the shower.” The only thing I did remember was how I’d lost my head and how magical his mouth could be when he wasn’t trying to get under my skin. How he gave me the best orgasm I’d ever had. How my thighs clenched just reliving it in my mind. If I were honest, I did remember him vocally claiming my pussy as his.Damn you, full moon, for messing with my head.

“I guess I will have to show you since you have a faulty memory.” Without warning, his palm flattened over the front panel of my shorts, and I almost leapt out of my seat, shooting him a look of disbelief. “Do you remember now?” His fingers curled over the seam between my thighs.

“Maybe,” I hissed.

“Then tell me.” He clenched his hand harder, and I felt like the car was going at least a hundred miles per hour. I bucked against the seat.

“Refresh my memory.” It was difficult to think when he stroked his finger up and down the seam of the material covering my sex.

“Do you remember when I said this pussy was mine?” He added more pressure, and my hips rolled into his touch. Why did he want to ask questions when he was driving me to the brink?

“Vaguely.” I bit my lip as he picked up his pace.
