I wish I had as much faith. This place is like Fort Knox, and four men trying to go undetected here will be difficult. It’s guarded heavily.

“You don’t have anything to pick the lock?” I ask.

Leo stands straighter, brow furrowing. “Possibly.” He steps toward the lock and inspects it. “It’s quite an advanced lock, though. It may take a while.”

Remy nods. “Try. It’s worth a go and will speed up the escape if the guys find us.” His arms tighten around me as he holds me in his lap. “You can sleep, baby. I’ll hold you.”

I have hardly slept since being captured, except when I was knocked unconscious. My eyelids feel heavy while I’m wrapped in Remy’s arms because he makes me feel safe, even while his enemy holds us in a cell.

Before I know it, I’m drifting off into a deep sleep.

* * *

My eyes flyopen as a shout startles me.

I bolt upright and then realize I’m still in Remy’s arms. He’s cradling me to his chest, and instantly I relax.

“Calm down, baby.”

I glance at him, and my heart squeezes in my chest. “What was that?”

He gives me a beautiful smile. “Leo cracked the lock.”

I jump to my feet and see Leo smirking as he holds open the cell door. “Wow. How long was I asleep?”

“Half an hour,” Remy says, standing up and cracking his neck. “Where the fuck are the guys?” he asks.

Leo stares down at his GPS watch. “Same place. Do you think they’ve been caught?”

Remy shrugs. “And the Russians?”

His brow furrows. “I think they’re somewhere down here in a cell.”

Remy clenches his jaw. “I guess we better rescue them.”

“Russians?” I question.

Remy meets my gaze. “Spartak’s men. He is helping us with this mission.”

I have no idea who Spartak is, but I nod. “Okay, let’s get out of here.”

Remy nods, and Leo leads us down the corridor, searching for the Russians. Suddenly, we hear a cheer to the right.

“Knew you fuckers would save us,” a man says with a thick Russian accent and red hair says.

Leo snorts. “Didn’t think you’d have much faith in Italians.”

The tallest of the three with dark blond hair stands. “Never doubted you for a second.”

The other I notice has dark hair as he steps forward from the shadows, staring at me. “You found her, too. Good work.”

I’m not too fond of the way he looks at me. It’s almost predatory, and I sense Remy doesn’t either as he pulls me closer. “Stop staring and back up,” he barks.

Leo doesn’t bother to pick this lock as he grabs a huge sledgehammer propped against the wall and slams it into the lock.

“Fuck, what about the noise?” The dark-haired guy says.

The red-haired one squeezes his shoulder. “We’re below ground, Oleg. They won’t hear.”
