Luca, for once, doesn’t make a joke and bows his head, smiling. “You’re welcome.”

Remy clears his throat and straightens up, scanning the table. “Before Ella entered my life, I was dead inside, just going through the motions.” His piercing eyes lock onto mine. “You’re the reason I get up every morning. You’re the laughter and light that fills my home. You’re the love that fills my cold heart.” He raises his glass. “And most importantly, you said ‘yes’ when I asked if you’d stick with me for the rest of your life.”

A resounding chuckle filters through the air.

“To Ella.” He raises his glass.

“To Ella,” everyone says in chorus.

I swallow hard, realizing that I’m next to speak. “Thank you,” I murmur, smiling. “As you all know, our relationship was not a typical one. It was complicated and messy from the beginning, but if I could go back and do it all again, I wouldn’t change a thing.” I pause and shake my head. “On second thought, I probably wouldn’t run away and get captured by mobsters.”

Everyone chuckles, and Remy rolls his eyes but with a smile on his face.

“All I need to say is that I love you.” I raise my glass. “To Remy.”

“To Remy,” everyone says in chorus.

The rest of the evening is lovely, and it’s the first time I’ve seen Remy’s family relax together and just be. Even Camilla is at ease, and her husband doesn’t seem too uptight after a few drinks.

Their kids are tucked up in bed in their suite, being looked after by the resort staff, as is Ronan.

As everything starts to wind down, Remy comes over to me. “Come with me. I have something to show you.”

Leading me by the hand, Remy guides me down to a hidden cove separated from the main beach. The moonlight dances on the rippling water, casting a romantic glow on the blankets and cushions on the sandy floor.

The soulful melody of Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect” drifts from a portable stereo and wraps itself around us, the lyrical promise of an undying love blending seamlessly with the gentle lapping of the sea against the shore.

Remy pulls me close, and we sway gently to the rhythm, lost in our own world. His dark eyes are filled with love and desire as he gazes into mine, sending a shiver of anticipation down my spine. Our bodies fit together like two missing pieces from a puzzle as if made for this moment, for this dance.

He leans in, his lips finding mine, and everything else disappears. Remy and I are locked in a dance as timeless as the universe. Our kiss deepens, fueled by the longing and love that have defined us.

“I love you, Ella,” he whispers against my lips, his words swelling my heart.

“I love you more than you can ever know,” I reply, my voice barely audible above the music.

We continue to dance, our bodies entwined, our hearts beating as one.

We celebrate our love in the cove’s silence under the moon’s watchful gaze. I found the love and acceptance I’d always craved in a man who was wicked toward me at first, but he turned out to be my true knight in shining armor.
