I’d called Grim and asked him to keep an eye on the house, but he’d said it didn’t appear anyone was home. Everything was sealed up tight and there’d been no answer when he’d knocked.

There were so many moving parts right now, I didn’t know which thing to focus on first.

According to Dorian, Devyn had been nineteen when she started, and there appeared to be eight different movies. Larry was in all of them with her, along with the singer from her old band, that Roscoe guy. They’d been filmed by a second-rate, now-defunct production studio outside of Boston and it had all been legal. Any other details had been sketchy, so the only person who would be able to fill in the blanks would be Devyn.

And so far, I hadn’t heard from her.

That irritated me even more.

The news had broken this morning and while it hadn’t seemed like a big deal at first, it had picked up steam while I’d been in the air. It had started with a handful of small, music-themed news sources but now it had gone viral. It was on social media, with screen shots and clips from the online videos, and Devyn’s face was everywhere.

If I hadn’t been so hurt by her secretiveness, I would have felt terrible for her.

But all of this had been avoidable. Dorian, along with our crisis control publicist, would have kept the stories at bay, and our lawyers could have worked to get most of the videos removed. Instead, she’d chosen to keep things from me, even though I’d asked her repeatedly to trust me.

She’d made her bed and now had to lie in it.

Dorian was working on damage control but this was going to have to play out now.

And I didn’t know what it meant for the band.

We’d survive.

The Onyx Knight brand was strong and it wasn’t the four of us who’d done anything wrong, so to speak. Devyn hadn’t either, but that was how the media was spinning it, like she was some kind of slutty gold digger who’d fucked her way into Onyx Knight. Those had been her exact fears.

Making everything that much more frustrating.

I unlocked the door to my condo and realized there was a light on.

Devyn.

I’d given her name to the doorman, telling him to let her in anytime she came by, until I could order her a key, but I hadn’t been expecting her to be here.

I put down my things and slowly walked into the main room.

Devyn was standing by the sliding glass doors, staring out at the night sky.

Neither of us said anything for a few minutes, and she finally turned to me.

“I’m sorry,” she whispered.

“I know.” I stuffed my hands in my pockets and waited for her to continue.

“I didn’t mean for this to happen. I just…” She sighed and looked away. “I was afraid.”

“Of what?” I asked quietly.

“Of your reaction.”

“Seriously?” I was irritated all over again. “I’ve told you a dozen times to trust me, to let me handle the hard stuff because I’ve been doing this a long time. Even if you couldn’t trust me with your heart, how could you not trust me professionally?”

“I don’t know.” She turned back to me and a single tear trickled down her cheek. “It was embarrassing. I didn’t know how it would play out with the band, and once we started to have feelings for each other, I didn’t want to have to tell you I used to get paid to fuck guys on camera.”

“I’ve been watching, jerking off to, and even having sex while watching porn since I was, like, fourteen. I’ve probably fucked a thousand women over the years. I’d be a hypocrite-and-a-half if I was upset about something like that.”

“I’m so sorry.” Her voice broke.

I wasn’t sure why, but her apology wasn’t enough, and her tears simply frustrated me.
