“Gage.”

He froze, his arm staying around me as he looked over his shoulder. He spun around, taking me with him, his entire body going rigid. A man I didn’t recognize was staring at us with three other guys beside him. When I met his eyes, he smirked at me, looking entirely relaxed, like there wasn’t a gunfight happening just outside the hall.

“It’s time to go,” the guy drawled, his gaze trailing to Gage. “Leave her.”

“I’m getting her outside first,” Gage growled, not letting me go.

“Not an option.”

“Who are they?” I asked under my breath.

Gage’s silence had fear sliding through me. Someone stumbled into the hall, and the men in front of us turned around, dealing with the new threat. While they were distracted, Gage leaned closer to me.

“Reese is here with members from his MC,” Gage whispered in a rush. “And the Blood Kings. Find them. They’ll help you.”

“I don’t know the Blood Kings—”

“Their members have the wordKingon their knuckles.” He handed me his gun, ignoring my protests. “They’re friends with the Riot Crew. Don’t trust anyone but them and Reese.”

“Gage, what are you talking about?” I asked, panic taking hold. “Just come with me.”

“Let’s go,” the guy in front of us sang out, his wicked gaze landing back on me. “Or we’ll take her with us too. I know you don’t want that.”

Gage cursed, his eyes darting between me and the guy.

“Last chance,” the guy said, threat in his voice. “Let her go and come with me.”

“I’m sorry, Rynn,” Gage said hoarsely, his arm leaving my waist.

“Sorry for what?” I shrieked. I grabbed the hem of his shirt when he tried walking away. “Don’t go with him.”

“I don’t have a choice. I won’t let him drag you into this. Reese and the Kings will get you to Ellie. You’ll be fine without me.”

“No, I won’t—”

A single gunshot cut me off before Chris bellowed an order from somewhere in the club to stop fighting. Gage didn’t spare me a glance as he made his way to the men. The lead guy shot me a leering grin before they turned away. I finally shook off the shock that had me paralyzed and raced after them, going back into the main area. Gage was walking next to the guy who’d spoken in the hall, and the other men were at their backs, heading toward another door near the bar.

“Gage,” I screamed, my voice cracking.

His shoulders tensed, but he continued walking away, shredding a piece of my heart in the process. Where the fuck was he going? He disappeared with the other men through the kitchen door, and before I could try to follow, a voice rang out.

“Grimrose has ten minutes to get their injured members and get the hell out.” Chris’s voice cut through the air. “I want you all the fuck out of my club.”

My heart hammered in my chest as I scanned the crowd, searching for Reese or anyone else I recognized. The only reason Chris would say that was because he didn’t want to lose any more men. If the fighting kept going, neither of their gangs would be left standing.

“Where did she go?” Chris’s question had a chill tearing down my spine.

I ducked, keeping my body low as I pushed my way across the dance floor, seeing an employee door to the left. My hands shook as I held the gun, my finger staying on the trigger.

“Find her,” Chris bellowed. “She’s not fucking leaving.”

“Shit,” I muttered.

A couple of men appeared in front of me, Pratt being one of them. Uncertainty flashed in his eyes when he caught sight of me, but he still raised his gun, warning me not to move. A warning I fully ignored as I spun around, running toward the front entrance. I wasn’t sure how many bullets were left in the gun, and I didn’t want to use them unless I absolutely needed to. It wasn’t like they were going to kill me. I just had to get out before they caught me.

“There,” someone shouted. “Near the front.”

I skidded to a halt, raising my gun at the two men who jumped in my way. There was no ink on their knuckles, meaning they weren’t part of the gang that Gage told me about. They also didn’t have leather cuts on, and since they were aiming weapons at me, I doubted they were with Reese’s MC. I didn’t know if they were Grimrose or Disciples, but I didn’t care either way. They were trying to make me stay.

“Move,” I sneered, taking a shot at one of them. I grazed his shoulder, and he howled in pain as if I’d hit somewhere worse. Before I could dart past them, more men appeared, making it impossible to get to the doors.

“Put the gun down.”

Chris’s voice came from behind me, and dread pooled in my stomach as I slowly turned around. He was standing about twenty feet away, and the area was quickly filling with more bodies until I was fully surrounded. My mouth grew dry, and panic welled up inside me as I attempted to keep my fear hidden. Jace and Kian were nowhere in sight, but I saw Nick and another man carrying Hayes out. He was either unconscious or dead, but I returned my focus to Chris when he stepped closer.

“You’re family, Rynn.” His voice held no warmth. There was only a violent promise that had my blood running cold. “It’s time to come home.”
