She pushed his hand away, taking a large step back. “No. I want to know how the hell you got held up when you knew how important tonight was.”

“What happened, Rynn?” Gage asked, his voice taking on a frantic edge. “Did it not work?”

She ignored his question. “How did you get stuck in the elevator?”

“I was explaining to him how good Kian and I made you feel in the woods that night.”

Her lips parted at my words, shock covering her features for a split second before she masked it and looked back at Gage. He was openly glaring daggers at me, and I smirked, realizing Rynn’s anger wouldn’t be focused on me tonight. Gage had let her down, and I had a feeling whatever they’d had planned didn’t work out.

“You’re telling me that you got stuck in an elevator because you couldn’t handle him talking about sex?” she asked him, her voice soft but threatening. “He was trying to piss you off, Gage.”

“Your boyfriend has a possessiveness problem,” I added, only ramping up the turmoil. “I’m not a relationship expert, but I don’t think that’s healthy.”

“Shut the fuck up,” Gage snarled, all traces of his high gone.

“Boyfriend?” Rynn choked out at the same time. “I’m not his.”

“Interesting.” I pretended to look surprised. “That’s not what he told Kian and me.”

“Because you and Kian need to stay the fuck away from her,” Gage hissed.

Rynn shoved his chest, keeping him from getting closer to me. “You have no right to get pissed. It’s just sex. And tonight got fucked because you let them get in your head about it.”

Gage froze. “What happened?”

Just then, the other elevator dinged, and the doors opened, revealing Kian. He halted, taking in the three of us before he stepped into the hall.

“Get the fuck out of here,” Rynn snarled, her rage increasing at the sight of Kian. “How the hell do you keep finding me?”

Kian raised an eyebrow. “I came to look for Jace.”

Gage lunged toward Kian. “What did you do?”

I stepped forward, grasping his shoulder and yanking him back. Rynn watched the exchange, her brows furrowing as Gage shoved me off him.

“He has the video,” she stated stiffly. “And he had someone with him who deleted it off my phone and laptop.”

“You son of a bitch,” Gage growled, going for Kian again before I got in the way. I wasn’t sure what video she was talking about, but I didn’t have time to think about it as I blocked Gage’s hit when he tried getting past me.

“Stop,” Rynn demanded as she caught Gage’s arm and tried tugging him back. “It doesn’t matter now. It’s done.”

Gage let her pull him away, and we all went quiet when the door to the penthouse opened. Reese strode out with two guys following. He looked at us in surprise but didn’t stop as he moved to push the elevator button.

“Fun game as always, Shadow,” he said, ignoring the strained tension and giving her a wink. “But I thought you were going to stay longer.”

“I had to deal with business,” she replied distractedly as she stayed in front of Gage.

She nodded her head in a silent goodbye, signaling she was done with this conversation. Without even a glance at Gage, she began moving toward the stairs, and I quickly got in her way.

“Move, Jace,” she commanded sharply. “I’m not in the mood.”

“I don’t know what Kian did, but I do know that you’re pissed at Gage,” I murmured, catching her chin in my grasp. “I can’t really blame him, though. Because I don’t want anyone else’s mouth on you except mine.”

Her eyes narrowed. “It’s been a long night. I don’t want to play games.”

“I’m not playing. I’m helping.” My grip on her jaw tightened when she tried pulling away. “You’re mad at Gage right now.”

“I’m pissed at all of you.”
