Just as theywere right now.

“When I passed by the window earlier, Hanna Tarver was adding some fake snow,” he explained. “I asked her to move us closer together.”

Emmy couldn’t have been more surprised if the inflatable cowboy Santa had toppled onto them. “Calen,” she said on a rise of breath, “that’s…romantic.”

“I have my moments.” And he smiled. A real honest-to-goodness smile that made her want to kiss him. Of course, plenty of things made her wantto kiss Calen.

“Maybe we can be best friends with benefits,” she threw out when they started moving again.

He stopped and looked down at her. “Maybe. But I was thinking of something more.”

More sounded wonderful. And a little confusing. “What could be more than friendswith benefits?”

He was quiet a few seconds. “Loverswith benefits?”

Emmy chuckled. “I think lovers alreadyget benefits.”

“All right, then people in love, with benefits,” he amended.

Her gaze flew to his, but Emmy didn’t see any trace of a joke. Nope. However, she saw something a whole lot better. The heat, the need. Maybe a dash of hope andholiday cheer.

Calen eased her closer to him. “Sasha was wrong. I’m not half in love with you. I’m all the way inlove with you.”

And there it was. All her best fantasies rolled into one. A happy Calen. A hot Calen. A Calen who felt the same way about her that shefelt about him.

“I’m in love with you too,” she murmured.

He flashed a smile before his mouth came to hers for a long, steamy, extremely satisfying kiss. Emmy had no doubt, none, that it’d be a lot more satisfying once she got him behind closed doors.

“Am I going to spoil the moment by saying the holiday words?” Emmy asked with her mouth still against his.

“Emmy, nothing can spoil this moment,” Calen assured her.

Because that was true, they said it together. “Merry Christmas.”
