Maeve's eyes widen in fear.

I rise and lead her through the house. Part of me debates whether I should keep her in America or let her come with me.

Maybe it's safer if she stays.

No, they know she's here. She'll be safer with me.

Will she though?

"I'm sure ya miss home, but I don't know the situation over there. Maybe ya should stay here."

Her eyes widen. She shakes her head. "No, I'm going where ya go. I'll be secure at Brody's. Ya know that."

I sigh and tug her into me. I admit, "I don't want anything to happen to ya."

She points out, "Nothing's going to happen to me. Ya have guards on me at all times."

The contract and video I received in the envelope haunt me. I stare at her.

"I'm going with ya," she says and pushes away. "I just need to grab my handbag. Should I pack clothes?"

I don't think anymore. I answer, "No. We can buy anything ya need. But ya still have stuff at Alaina and Brody's anyway."

She grabs her handbag off the desk and comes back to me. "I'm ready, then."

I study my wife. She's always been brave, but this situation makes me respect her even more. She really is one of a kind.

"Why are ya staring at me like that?" she questions.

"I just..." I trail off.

She arches her eyebrows. "Ya just what?"

Something in me seems to make my heart soar, but I can't figure it out. I've never felt like this. My chest starts to squeeze. I suddenly feel like I can't breathe.

She places her hand on my cheek. "Tynan, are ya all right?"

I pull myself out of it. "Aye. Just worried about what's going on in Belfast. Let's go." I grab her hand and lead her through the house.

We step outside and get into the car.

Dad's already in there. He informs us, "The Marinos are taking their own plane. They'll take off in the next hour."

I nod.

He glances at Maeve. "Are ya all right, lass?"

She puts on a brave smile. "Yea, I'm sorry they did this."

I tug her closer to me.

Dad states, "You have nothing to be sorry about. You're not responsible for those bastards."

She releases a stressful breath. "Do ya know why they did it?"

He shakes his head. "Who knows? There are millions of reasons. But let's not talk about this anymore. This isn't stuff ya should worry about, lass."

She tilts her head, claiming, "But I'm part of this family."
