"Aye. Ya are. But I won't have ya involved in this business."

"Because I'm a woman?" she questions.

Dad shakes his head. "No, because you're not cut out for this."

"Alaina is a woman, and she's in charge," Maeve states.

Dad chuckles. "Alaina's a different breed. You don't need to worry about this. You have a lot going for ya here with all your classes and everything else."

Maeve hesitates, then says, "Well, I won't get to finish them now that I'm leaving."

"We'll find ya new classes," I tell her, determined to find some for her as soon as we return to Belfast. Not that I plan on being there long-term, but something in me tells me what's going on is big, and we'll have to stay there way longer than I want.

Yet, there isn't a bone in my body that would leave my brothers to deal with this on their own. This is a problem we're all going to have to clean up. The O'Learys have to die. We're going to have to figure out how to go after them. And that's going to be harder when all our armor and docks have been blown up.

We pull up to the jet, and I kiss Maeve on the head. "Go on up. I need to talk to my dad real quick."

She stares at us both and then obeys.

I wait until she's on the plane, and Dad and I step out of the car. I knock on the window, and our driver takes off. Then I cross my arms over my chest, asking Dad, "What do we know?"

He shakes his head. "Not much, but there's barely anything left."

"How many casualties?" I question.

His face falls, and in a low voice, he answers, "Nobody survived."

My gut dives. "No one in the tunnel?"

His eyes darken. He confirms, "No one, Tynan. Everyone at the tunnels and the docks are dead."

Revenge fills me to the point I've never felt it before. I clench my fists, vowing, "Every O'Leary left will pay for this."

Dad nods, declaring, "This is war. There's no more mercy for any of those bastards. Their end is now."

It doesn't take long before we're up in the air. No one says much and then Tully starts snoring.

Tynan shakes his head. "He needs to stop smoking and get a sleep apnea test."

I hold in my laugh. "I can't imagine your da not smoking. It's like it's a part of him."

Something passes in Tynan's expression. He glances over at Tully. "Aye, you're right. Still. The man's about to choke for a wee bit of air."

I put my hand on Tynan's thigh. It's not normal for him to worry about his da. I ask, "Babes, are ya all right? I'm worried about ya."

He kisses my hand, then puts it back on his thigh. He caresses my fingers with his, claiming, "I'm fine."

"Ya sure?"

"Aye."

I study him, not believing a word he says.

He adds, "I don't want ya going anywhere when we get to Belfast. You're to stay at Brody and Alaina's, okay?"
