Da.

I need to call him when we get off this plane.

When Tynan leaves, I will, I tell myself, knowing that if I try to call Da now, Tynan will just get upset.

I say a quick prayer. Hopefully, I'll find my da and I'll be able to see him and make sure he's okay.

"What's going through that pretty head of yours?" Tynan questions, snapping me out of my thoughts.

"Just thinking about the concept of being a mum."

"You do want to be a mum, right?" he quizzes.

I open my mouth to speak, but nothing comes out.

"You don't want to be a mum?" he says with disappointment.

I ramble, "I don't know. I just... I haven't thought much about it. I guess I would eventually. Yea, I mean, if ya want kids, then of course I want kids. But if ya didn't, then I don't know. Would I want them?"

He arches his eyebrows. "That's for ya to answer."

I stay quiet.

He asks, "Are ya sure you're okay with kids since I want them?"

I nod. "Yea, someday, when we're ready."

"Well, what will it take for us to be ready?" he prods.

It's another question I have no answer for. "Um, I..."

He continues staring at me.

I blurt out, "Maybe when we're settled."

"We're not settled?" he questions.

"Do ya think we are?" I challenge.

He sighs and tugs me closer. "No, I know we're not, and I'm sorry for that. I am trying to do things so that we are though."

"Like what?"

"Things I need to do."

I stare at him hard. "Tynan, what does that mean? Things that ya need to do? Like what?"

"Things with my business."

"Like what?"

He stares at me, hesitating.

"What are ya afraid to tell me?"

"I'm not afraid."

"Then say whatever it is you're not saying," I order.
