"So I'm going to be a prisoner?" I question.

He gives me a reprimanding look. "Maeve, tell me I don't need to worry about ya while I'm there. I'm going to be busy. I don't know how much time I'll have to see ya for a while."

My insides fall. I can't stand the thought of not seeing Tynan, but this is an emergency, so I tease, "Don't worry. I'll stay in the house, twiddling my thumbs."

He puts his arm around my shoulder and kisses my head. "I'm sure you'll find something to do with the girls."

I nod. "It'll be good to see them and the babies."

He grins, offering, "Aye, you can get lots of baby time in, thinking about when I knock ya up and we have our own."

Surprise fills me. I ask, "Ya want kids?"

His head jerks back. "Aye. Of course I do. Every O'Connor has to plant their seed and grow some little babies to continue the legacy. I'm no different."

I softly laugh. "Is that so?"

His lips twitch. He slides his hand between my thighs.

"Aye. But don't worry, Mrs. O'Connor. I'll make it fun trying to knock ya up."

"Is that what you've been trying to do?" I question.

He chuckles. "No. I've just been enjoying my wife. But if I happened to plant my seed in that tight pussy of yours, I wouldn't be upset."

"No?" I say, surprised.

"No. Why do ya look so shocked? Do ya think I'd be a bad dad?"

I think about his question and shake my head. "No, you're great with your nieces and nephews."

"Well then, what's the issue?"

It takes me a minute, and I ponder his question.

"Well?" he pushes.

I admit, "I guess I never thought about being a mum."

"Why not? You'd be a great one."

"I would?"

"Aye, of course ya would," he says with such surety it almost makes me laugh. Then he inquires, "It's good to see ya smile, but what did I say that was so funny?"

I shrug. "I just don't know how ya always are so confident about my abilities."

"Well, I've seen ya with the babies. They love ya. And look how ya rescued Dominick. He still loves ya. In fact, sometimes, I think he loves ya more than Lauren."

I elbow him.

He belts out, "Ow! Why'd ya do that?"

I reprimand, "Don't say that. That's his mum. He loves his mum the most, not me."

"Easy there, killer. I was just teasing, but ya are great with him. He totally loves ya."

It does warm my heart to hear him say that. I love Dominick and all the babies, but all I've ever been able to do is think about taking care of my da.
