I take her hand and pull her deeper into the room. I point at the bed. "I need to get those on the wall."
"Those are beautiful," she gushes.
"Thank you. Now ya understand why I don't want anyone to know, right?"
She nods. "I do. And I wish I had your body. You look beautiful in those. Tynan's going to love them."
"I hope so," I say. Butterflies reappear in my stomach.
We spend a few hours arranging the photos on the wall, and she leaves. I meet Tully in the dining room for dinner, but he says, "Let's go out tonight."
"Where to?" I question.
"Tristano Marino has a new restaurant opening tonight."
"Really? I've never been to an opening of anything before!"
The amused expression on his face is one I see often. "Well, I guess I can count on ya to be my date, then?"
"Of course! Can I change?" I ask, looking down at my top and jeans.
"Sure. How long do ya need to get ready?"
"Ten minutes?"
"Perfect."
I rush back to my bedroom and slide into a black dress and heels. I select a matching evening bag and fill it with my lipstick and phone, then find Tully in his office.
He leads me out of the house and we drive into the city, chatting about all sorts of things. We have a great dinner with the Marinos at Tristano's new restaurant, then return to the house.
I get ready for bed and text Tynan.
Me: Are ya on the plane?
Tynan: I just pulled up to it. Go to sleep. I'll wake ya when I get home.
Me: Okay. Have a safe flight. I love you.
Tynan: I love you more.
Me: No, I love you more.
Tynan: I love you more. I'm turning my phone off. Bye.
I laugh. He does that to me all the time.
I barely sleep, falling in and out of consciousness all night, wishing he was beside me. I doze off again at some point and wake up to the scent of him and his fingers stroking my cheek.
He murmurs, "Hey, princess."
I blink several times and roll onto my back. I reach for him. "Are ya really here?"
He leans down and kisses me until I'm breathless, then murmurs, "Ya bet your sexy ass I'm here."
I kiss him again.
He retreats. "I need to shower. I'll be back soon, okay?"
