I glance down at my dress. "I need something better to wear. This isn't sexy enough."
A mix of shock, approval, and hesitation swirls on his expression. He clenches his jaw.
"Why are ya looking at me like that?" I ask.
He arches his eyebrows. "How do ya know what people wear in a sex club?"
I admit, "I've seen what people wear in movies."
His eyes light with amusement. "Movies?"
I shrug, teasing, "Yea. Ya know. Those things ya watch on TV."
He arches his eyebrows. "Are ya talking about pornos?"
I laugh. "No, I'm talking about movies."
"What movies have sex clubs in them?" he asks.
"I don't know, but I've seen several, so I'm sure I need to wear something sexier than this dress." I look down at the mint-green material and mutter, "I don't want to embarrass myself."
He puts the divider down. "Add a stop to the penthouse." He puts the window back up.
"Thank you," I chirp. I slide next to him and kiss him on the cheek.
He puts his hand on my thigh, asserting, "I'm removing these panties if you're changing."
"I didn't say ya could."
"Then you're going in that dress."
I huff. "Fine. Ya can take them off."
Satisfaction fills his expression, but he adds, "You're pushing it, sunshine."
"What do ya mean I'm pushing it?"
He studies me for a moment. Then he tucks a lock of my hair behind my ear. "The sex club isn't a place for ya."
Anger fills me. "Why is that? Because I'm not good enough?"
He groans and scrubs his hand over his face. "I've already told ya that you're better than anyone in there."
"And why is that?" I question.
He sighs. "Because ya are."
"Why?" I push.
He freezes again, and that same look he got when I asked him why he married me appears.
I roll my eyes. "Let me guess. You're telling me I'm better because ya can."
He groans. "No. That's not the case. But seriously, Maeve. Ya gotta let it go."
"Whatever." I glance out the window, staring at the passing buildings.
He slides his arm around my waist and tugs me onto his lap.
