"Thanks." He steers me into a hallway. Then he stops and assesses me, his eyes full of disapproval.

More nerves fill me. "Do I not look okay?"

"Of course ya look okay. Ya look fucking amazing. You're a stunner, and ya know it. I'm just pissed that all these other men will be staring at ya and I can't kick their asses."

"Oh. Why can't ya kick their asses? Not that I want ya to kick their asses," I add, my lips twitching.

He studies me a moment longer, then admits, "Because there are rules in the club, and they're not rules ya break. All the families have to be here together and not cause any problems. And, Maeve, I'm warning ya, ya need to stay by me all night. Do not leave my sight. Do ya understand?"

My anxiety escalates. "Of course. And I don't want to leave your sight."

My answer seems to appease him. His lips turn into a tiny smile. "Okay, good."

I reach up, put my hands on his cheeks, and pull him toward me. "I mean it. I don't want to be here with anyone besides ya," I state, unsure why I'm telling him this, but it seems to calm him.

"Good." He gives me a quick peck on the lips, then pulls back. "Last chance to get out of this."

I shake my head. "No."

He takes a deep breath. "I knew ya were going to say that."

I softly laugh. "Good. At least ya can't be angry with me, then. Let's go."

His face hardens, and he leads me down several hallways. Then, we step out into a large room.

Soft, sexy music plays. The lights are barely lit. Beds, chaises, and couches fill the room. People are fucking or watching others fuck. It's like what I've seen in the movies, but it's not fake. It's real.

Tynan grips me tighter, pulling me toward him, and he mutters, "Do ya want a drink?"

"Not yet," I answer.

He steers me toward an elevator and nods to the guy guarding it. The doors open, and we go up several levels.

We step out, and he announces, "This is the O'Connor floor. We share it with the Marinos."

"Dante's family?" I ask.

"Aye."

He steers me down the hall, nodding and greeting men until we reach a big open area. He chooses a set of chairs where no one else is and sits. He pulls me onto his lap.

A waitress appears as if she's been waiting for us. "Hello, Mr. O'Connor. Champagne for you and the lady?"

"Just the lady. Whiskey for me."

"Right away, sir."

She hands me a flute of champagne. I take a sip and try to calm my nerves, even though I've already had enough wine tonight.

It's not long before the server reappears with a glass of whiskey and hands it to Tynan. "Do you need anything else?"

"No, we're good," he answers, sipping his whiskey.

I trace a wrinkle near his eyes, declaring, "It's not fair that men get hotter and women don't as we age."

He looks at me like I'm crazy. "You're in your twenties, and you've not aged a bit. Ya don't need to worry about that."

"I know. I'm just saying." I glance around the room.
