My blood starts to boil as I snap, “You did, did you?”

Confirming all the ugly thoughts running through my mind, Kristi says, “He was very flirtatious, Addison. I think he wanted to hook up. You know, for old time’s sake. Too bad for him I’m seeing someone. Still, he gave me a big-ass hug that felt wonderful.”

I’m angry.
I’m hurt.
Kristi has no idea that Hayden and I are together, so this is all on him.
Clenching my teeth, I grind out, “He gave you ahug?”
“Yep,” she says on a sigh. “And let me tell you, the chemistry is still there. I felt it. Maybe I should have strayed. Hayden was always so amazing in the sack.”
She has no idea I’m furious. But truly, if I could crawl through the phone and smack this bitch, I would.
Obviously, I can’t do that.
I can get rid of her, though.
Still seeing red, I tell her, “I have to go. I think there’s someone at my door.”
“Oh, okay,” she says, sounding confused. “I guess we’ll just talk anoth—”
I hang up on her.
And then I throw the phone across the bed.
I am fucking fuming at Hayden.
Why didn’t he tell me he saw Kristi and talked to her?
Oh, and hugged her.
We’ve talked and texted since then.
Hell, we even FaceTimed early this morning before I went to work.
I can think of only one reason why he’d stay quiet—he didn’t want me to know.
And no wonder!
The jerk was flirting with Kristi,huggingher.
