As much as I want to run again, I also don’t want to go back to that repressed version of myself. I no longer want to be a Dark-Fae. I want to be able to be who I am without fear of it.

Yet even I know how dangerous it is to be a Harmony-Fae in this world. So if I left, I would be forced to suppress it all over again. Here, at least I am safe to find out what I am capable of.

I don't even fully understand what the true meaning of being a Harmony-Fae is. But suddenly, I want to find out. And, Darius can’t stop me from finding that power. The power I was born to harness. A power that could even take the feared Demonic-Fae King down.

With that thought in mind, I get up. Anger courses through me, and one bonus to having power now is the ability to walk away whenever I want. So, I open up a portal to Tobias' classroom. I step into the room at the back, sitting behind everyone. I did miss school. I always loved learning about fae history and loved the practical side that I always made excuses not to participate in.

But now I have another motivator to get me to stay. Here, I am free to learn with no repercussions because everyone here is aware of what I am. There is no need to hide it. And if that helps me get back at Darius, then so be it. He wants to destroy me? Play with my bond? Toy with me? Turn my mates against me? Fine! Two can play at that game. So let's see who breaks who first.

ChapterNineteen

Lycus Wraith

One thing I love and also hate about the bond is feeling everyone's emotions. I had marked her, and our bond is forged. Sure, she hadn't marked all of us, but I knew she would feel us, so I kind of felt bad. I just stood there. However, I was shocked.

Darius had finally come to accept her, and I knew he wanted to be with her. We all did. The guilt that washed through me at how we had treated her made my stomach churn. So when her feeling of embarrassment and rejection hit me, it was like Darius had rejected all of us. I just don't understand what happened.

“What the fuck just happened?” I ask Kalen after I watch her leave in a rush without looking back. Darius has been in a mood for the last day or so since she marked Kalen. He wants her to mark him but is denying himself and her. All for some conjured up the toxic belief that she would blurt out his secrets.

It makes me wonder what is so bad in his memories that he wants to keep them hidden from her. Since he refused her, Tobias and Darius have been constantly at each other's throats, and the dramatics were really beginning to bother me. But he might as well have just slapped her. Teasing her bond out like that only to push her away stung even me.

Kalen makes a strangled noise as her pain rattles through us. “I have no idea,” Kalen says with a sigh. I watch as he runs a hand through his hair then quickly tugs his shirt on.

“Where are you going?” I ask him.

“To find her, of course,” he says, sitting on the edge of the bed and pulling his shoes on.

“Just give me a second. I'll come with you,” I tell him.

“I don't need a babysitter, Lycus.”

“Ah, maybe I just want to help find her. She is my mate, too. I said nothing about babysitting you,” I tell him as I tug on my shirt when I hear my phone bing. That familiar binging sound setting me on edge.

“We’ll check the library,” I tell Kalen walking out into the bedroom to find Kalen with my phone in his hands. His eyes downcast on my phone. He grits his teeth and lifts his head, glaring at me.

“How long?” he demands, and I walk over snatching my phone from his hand.

“Don’t go through my phone,” I snap at him.

“Is that where you snuck off the other night?”

“No, now enough.”

“Bullshit!” Kalen yells getting to his feet. “Does Darius know?”

“No, and you’ll keep your mouth shut!”

“Like hell I will, you promised you wouldn’t get in the pits again, how long Lycus?”

“Just twice, it's not that big of a deal.”

“For him it is!” Kalen yells at me. His breathing grows harsher with every breath he takes.

“Aren’t we supposed to be looking for Aleera?”

“Don’t change the subject. You’re not going!”

“I don’t have a choice!”
