Damon put a finger to the older woman’s nose. “Yes.” He turned to the others. “Was she like this when you found her?”

“Yeah,” said a guy. “We got lost looking for our room and found her just like this.”

“We didn’t move her,” the woman added. “Where are the hotel employees? She needs help!”

“We don’t have time to find them,” Damon said. He tapped Mrs. Fuentes’s shoulder. “Wake up!”

“She wouldn’t wake up for us.”

Ariana knelt down and felt her pulse. It was strong.

Damon shone a light over her closed eyes. “We need you to wake up.”

“What if she was knocked out?”

Ariana turned to the others. “Go get help. If you can’t find any hotel staff, then get anyone you can.”

They ran off.

“What should we do?” Ari asked. “We can’t leave her here, but we also don’t know if she has any injuries.”

“If only she’d wake up.” He shone the light over Mrs. Fuentes’s eyes again. “Can you hear us?”

Her eyelids fluttered. Barely.

“Did you see that?”

Damon nodded.

Ariana gently squeezed her shoulder. “Are you awake?”

The woman’s eyes fluttered again. Then they slowly opened.

“Mrs. Fuentes!” Ariana said. “Are you okay?”

She looked around. “Where am I?”

“We’re in the hallway in the hotel.”

“Hotel?”

“For Rita’s wedding.”

The corners of her mouth curved slightly. “I haven’t missed it?”

“Not at all.” Ariana held her hand and gave a gentle squeeze.

“Do you have any injuries?” Damon asked. “Headache? Any other pain?”

She struggled to sit up. “Nothing out of the ordinary. Growing old may be a gift, but someone forgot to tell my joints.”

“Did you see anyone before you fell?”

“No. I don’t remember anything after leaving my room.”

“We’re going to help you stand,” Damon said.

“Okay.”
