"Nickolas Brown… Kiss me."
Right away, he claims my mouth with the ferocity of a tiger that wants to devour his prey.
"Mommy, Giant? Where are you?" Charlotte's voice echoes through the house, and I can't help but grin against Nick's lips.
"Guess little Nick needs to wait."
He lets out a chuckle as he hears Charlotte call out to him again. Stepping back, he gives me space and time to straighten my clothes."You go, I'll be there in a few minutes."
I giggle and nod as I observe the reason he's saying this. "Little Nicky sure knows how to set up an impressive tent."
"Oh, yes, he does. And he's very sad you don't want to play with him," he says with a grin.
Throwing him an air kiss, I stroll into the hallway.
"Mommy?"
"I'm on my way, honey," I call out, while descending the stairs.
We spent the rest of the afternoon in the backyard. Charlotte has a blast climbing in and out of the treehouse while we drink tea and coffee. We talk about everything, and I notice that the fear and anxiety that whirled through my brain has vanished.
