“Ooh.” Toby bounced to his feet. “I know what that is.”

Sol laughed. “More goodies?”

Toby grinned. “Spreader bars. Make a start, and I’ll be back.” And with that, he hurried out of the barn.

“What the fuck is a spreader bar?” Butch asked.

“If you hang around here a while longer, you’ll be able to see for yourself.” Sol opened the box. “You got a minute? Or do you have to be somewhere?”

“What do you need me for?”

Sol gestured to the box’s interior. “Help me get this out and assemble it?”

“Sure, I can do that.” Butch came over and peered inside. “What is it?”

“It’s a sling frame.”

Butch chuckled. “And I’m still none the wiser.”

Together they lifted out all the metal pieces and laid them on the floor. The sling bed was wrapped in plastic, and there was a bag containing the chains.

Butch stared at the latter. “What is this, an instrument of torture?”

Sol laughed. “I’ll demonstrate it when we’re done.”

Butch arched his eyebrows. “You know about this stuff?”

“I’ve assembled a few bits and pieces in my time, helping friends. But this isn’t the first website of this kind that I’ve worked on. I had to familiarize myself with everything that came with it. So yeah, I did my research.”

Butch didn’t need to know what Sol got up to at the club or in his private life. He was only just getting used to the idea that he was bi, for Christ’s sake. While Sol was reasonably certain Butch wasn’t a snowflake, learning about Sol’s lifestyle might send him running for the hills, or at least make him wary, and Sol didnotwant Butch to feel uncomfortable.

Quite the contrary. He wanted Butch relaxed, content—and open to new situations.

Sol found the two cross pieces that formed the center of the top and base.

“We start with one of these.”

Between them, they slotted the upright bars into the corners, assembled the top, and lowered it, sliding the corner posts into position. Sol attached the chains to the corner hooks, then unpacked the sling bed. He pulled the chains through the rings at the head of the leather straps, and secured them using an S-hook, which allowed for a change of height if needed.

Butch stood back and stared at it. “Okay, now I have a better idea of what it is.”

“It’s not finished yet.” Sol reached into the box and removed the pillow. He used its straps to fasten it at the top of the bed. Then he took out the stirrups and attached them to the chains. “Nowit’s finished.” He grinned. “And now for that demonstration.”

Butch’s breathing hitched. “What?”

Sol climbed onto the bed and spread his legs, his thighs resting on the leather straps. He pointed to the stirrups. “Put my feet into those, will you?”

Butch did as instructed, then stood back to take in the whole view. “Whoa. This is some piece of equipment.”

“You’re too far away.” Sol grabbed the chains near his head. “Step closer, between my legs.” When Butch hesitated, Sol smiled. “I don’t bite, you know.”

Butch moved in, and Sol pointed to the bars above his head. “Grab onto those.” When Butch was in position, Sol looked him in the eye. “And now you’re ready. The height’s just right.”

“Right for what?”

Sol took in Butch’s flushed cheeks. “You’re notthatnaive. The sling makes fucking effortless. The bottom has little range of movement, and the top has access to his ass and hole. The sling rocks, and that adds to the overall sensation. See?” He pointed to his ass. “I’m in the perfect position for fucking, rimming, fingering… fisting…”

That last one had Butch’s eyes like saucers. Sol noted that he hadn’t backed away, however.
