“Shit.” Greg shook his head. “Did I ruin it? I was trying not to—”

Holden stopped his protest by slamming his mouth down on Greg’s. He was laughing and kissing at the same time, and in between, he managed a few words that transformed Greg’s anxiety into joy. “I love you too. As crazy as it sounds—”

“I know. Totally crazy.”

“It does. But it’s true.”

“For me too.”

Laughter mixed with tears, and their kisses turned to caresses, their voices to soft murmurs filled with wonder.

“I never thought I’d find someone like you,” Holden said.

“Me either. I’ve never had someone who accepts everything I am.”

“As I’ve said before, they were assholes because everything you are is absolutely perfect. I’m glad none of them were able to see it because it means you were waiting for me.”

“And were you waiting for me?” Greg asked.

Holden swallowed, then rested his forehead against Greg’s. “I think so. It feels that way, at least.” He kissed Greg lightly, reverently. “And you were definitely worth the wait. Now, why are we still dressed?”

With a laugh, they separated and quickly shed their remaining clothing, then climbed into bed and rolled toward each other. Greg entwined his legs with Holden’s and ran his finger down the side of Holden’s face.

“I wish you didn’t have to shave.”

“I know.” Holden trailed his fingers along Greg’s jawline. “Would you ever want to let yours grow out?”

Greg wrinkled his nose, and Holden laughed. “I don’t look good with a beard, but I think they’re sexy.” He stroked Holden’s cheek, loving the slight drag of Holden’s stubble on his fingertips. “And yours is incredibly sexy.”

“Hm. Then maybe I should grow it out just for you.”

Whatever reply Greg might have made was lost as Holden closed the distance between them. “I love you,” he whispered just before his lips touched Greg’s.

Chapter eighteen

Holden

Holdencouldn’tbelievehowgood it felt to say those three words to Greg. He’d waited a lifetime for someone to love, and it was nothing like he expected now that it had happened. It was like taking his first breath, like seeing the sun after months of rain, like finding the very thing he wanted most of all under the Christmas tree. And it was the easiest thing in the world because it was Greg. Holden couldn’t imagine knowing this man and not loving him.

As he held Greg and kissed him, caressed him, and ran his fingers through his hair, he admitted to himself he’d almost believed it would never happen. After everything Greg had been through, he was humbled that the beautiful man he held in his arms not only trusted him but loved him as well.

“Thank you,” Holden whispered.

“For what?”

“For you.”

“I should be saying the same thing to you.”

Holden rolled onto his back, bringing Greg with him, loving how Greg’s weight pressed him into the mattress, how their bodies aligned.

“I can’t believe how much I missed this. Missed you,” Holden said. “It’s only been a week.”

“I know.” Greg rocked against him gently, and Holden groaned at the friction on his cock.

“I almost didn’t tell you I was coming back to LA because it seemed too soon, and you were with your parents still, and I didn’t want to seem too needy.”

“You were trying to be rational.” Greg kissed him. “I’m so glad you decided not to be.”
