She broke the kiss and stepped away from him and undressed. Her clothes suddenly becoming an unwanted barrier between them.

He did the same.

They stood there together, naked. His hands reached for hers, and she could feel his eyes taking in every part of her body until their gazes locked.

“Stacey.” He breathed her name as one hand came and brushed her cheek.

She closed her eyes and breathed him in. A sense of calm took over her body, and all anxiety evaporated. He was different. This was worth trying. She pulled him toward the bed, and they continued to search and feel each other until their lips joined again.

Tristan gently pushed her on her back. His lips left hers and trailed kisses down her neck, across her collar bone, and finally to her breasts.

His name escaped her as his lips sent fireworks through her and she fought for control. It’s been forever since she felt this way. Since her body tingled with need and desire. Since she let herself go.

His fingers traveled along her body and touched her in places she hadn’t been touched for a long time. Tingling ignited and shot heat through her.

“Tristan, yes.”

Again, his mouth found hers as his fingers continued igniting the flame of desire deep within her. She fought for a breath as her body went over a cliff and convulsed. She devoured his mouth and tongue. She needed him now. “Tristan, the drawer.” She nudged him and moved closer to the edge of the bed and opened the drawer to show him a box of condoms. “Do condoms have an expiration date? They’ve been in there a while.” She bit her lip, not sure if she should laugh or be embarrassed.

A smile crept up along his face. “They do, but it’s years.”

“You might want to check.”

He grabbed the box and kissed her lips. “They better still be good. I didn’t come prepared for this.” He read the box and a wicked look crossed his face. “We’re good.”

Stacey leaned up grabbed him around the neck and quickly got them back to where they were before.

Kristen kicked the bedroom door closed behind her and placed the two cups of coffee on the dresser and grabbed Jacob’s arm. It was morning, and as usual, they were rushing around in each other’s way. Trying to get ready in Jacob’s bedroom and his small bathroom always caused problems.

“What’s up?” Jacob eyed the coffee cups and picked one up. “Mm. Great coffee. Why’d you bring it in here?”

Kristen got close to his ear and whispered. “Stacey had a guest over last night.”

Jacob pursed his lips. “Really?” he whispered back. “Tristan?”

Kristen rolled her eyes and smacked his arm. “Duh.”

“Okay, so he spent the night. Yay, sis. Why are we whispering?” He wrapped her in his arms.

Her arms went around his neck, and she felt that familiar thump of her heart she always got when Jacob looked at her with those blue eyes. “I don’t want her to hear us and think we’re being nosy. You know how she is when she’s in a relationship.”

“It seems like she really likes him. I know he’s crazy about her.” He brushed hair from Kristen’s face.

She was worried about her best friend. “I know. I think you and I should stay at my place tonight. Give her some privacy. The plumbing and master bath are finished. We can take an air mattress and sleep in the bedroom. We have water and an amazingly large shower.” She wiggled her brows and leaned in to place a seductive kiss on his lips.

“Keep kissing me like that and we may have to call in sick.” He kissed her again.

“Okay, enough. It’s settled then. You and me, my place, and we’ll pick up where we left off in the privacy of our own house.”

“That sounds amazing. Our house.” Another quick kiss, and Jacob pulled away to put his blazer on and leaned down to tie his shoes.

Kristen grabbed her coffee and pulled him up. “That was a slip. I’ll meet you atmyplace, and we’ll go out for dinner. But, come on, we’ve got to go before they come out of the room.”

Jacob looked at the time on his phone. “It’s only seven. We haven’t even had breakfast.” He clutched his coffee in a death grip.

Kristen pulled him out of his room, gave him his keys and wallet as she pulled him along and grabbed her purse. “Let’s stop by the bakery. Des told me they have amazing breakfast sandwiches. She makes the biscuits fresh every morning.”

Jacob stumbled out the door, barely closing it behind them and gave Kristen a quick peck as they jumped in their cars heading to breakfast.
