“A date, eh?”

“Yeap, so you’d best get thinking about where you want to go.”

Pulling me in for a hug, Archer pressed his lips to my cheek before pulling away. “Promise me one thing, Nee. No matter what happens, what news you get, what you get told by the doctors, what happens in your life, you won’t shut me out again. You won’t run.”

“I promise,” I said, pressing my hand to his heart. “No matter what.”

Chapter 29

Archer

Nee:I’vegoogledyou!

Me: Hi you. And?

Nee. Sorry. Hi. You’re REALLY famous. How did I miss that?

Me: Does it bother you?

Nee: Yes.

Nee: You could have anyone.

Me: I was single for years before you. You taught me how to love.

Nee: Oh

Me: I’m about to go warm up. Can I call you later?

Nee: I’ll be here. Good luck or break a leg or whatever you say before a rock show.

“I’ve missed that smile,” Charlie declared, pulling me into a headlock and wrestling me onto the stage so we could do our sound check. “Nee?”

“Nee.”

“Is it all good? You’re back together?”

“Nope. Far from it. She has no clue about what we had, but even though she can’t remember, she knows more than she realizes.”

“The paintings on her wall?”

“Those and all the other ones she painted. But it’s not just that. She’s calling me Arch. She remembered what we order from the takeaway. We kissed and her body remembered me.” My skin heated at the memory of her in my arms.

“So what now? You try and help her get her memories back? Remind her how she used to feel about you?”

“Nope. I make her fall in love with me again.”

Charlie laughed, throwing his head back as he released his hold on me. “You were always were a hopeless romantic. And how are you going to do that?”

I shoved my hands into my pockets, moving toward my microphone. “No idea. None. But I refuse to believe there is any other outcome for this clusterfuck than ‘we lived happily ever after’.”

“Fox?” I yelled. “We need to get started.”

Moments later, Fox appeared, running onto the stage.

“Sorry,” he muttered as he grabbed his guitar, pulling the strap over his shoulder. His long hair was still tied up, but he looked disheveled, as if someone had buried their fingers in it. His lips were swollen and he had what appeared to be a hickey at the base of his neck. “Got distracted.”

“We can see,” Charlie scoffed. “Who the hell have you been hooking up with backstage?”
