We didn’t speak again until we’d ordered two burgers with the works and two iced teas. Then she turned to me, pressing her knee against my thigh.

“I spoke to Dawson. You’re not fired anymore. He’ll tell you himself later, but I wanted you to know.”

I clasped my hands together on the table so I didn’t touch her and make things worse. “Thank you, I guess.”

“Do you not want to stay? Sorry, I presumed that you wanted to—”

I pressed two fingers to her lips. “Anyone ever tell you that you talka lot,Sugar?” She nodded slowly, and I dropped my fingers. “I just, well, I don’t think I can look any of you in the eye after what I did.”

“Hey, I was the one being spit roasted across a table. If anyone should be embarrassed it should be me… and just so we’re clear, I’m not. I probably came even harder knowing you were watching.”

I shuffled uncomfortably as my cock started to harden at the memory of her arched body as she came or the way their combined cum dripped out of her afterward.

Her lips curled into a wry smile as if she could read my mind. Leaning closer, she stretched up so she could whisper in my ear. “Do you like watching, Marshall?”

I let out a grunt that obviously gave her the answer she wanted to hear as she placed her hand just above my knee; the heat from her palm burning through to my very core.

“And what about other things? Are there other things you like?”

The server interrupted before I could answer, putting our order on the table in front of us.

Lea turned her attention away from me, removing her hand from my leg. “Thank you,” she offered before reaching for the ketchup covering her fries and then her burger before holding it out to me. I grimaced, shaking my head. “You don’t like ketchup?” she asked, sounding shocked.

“It’s gross.” Gasping, she pushed up from her seat, picked up her plate and glass, and moved to the other side of the table.

“I don’t think we can be friends, you weirdo.”

I missed her closeness, and she seemed to notice. “I need room to eat without getting elbowed by your giant arms. Keep my seat warm though, because I’m coming back.”

We made small talk; she told me about her family and how she’d met Alchemy Myth. I told her a bit about me; I was the youngest of six kids. My parents both passed a few years ago and my oldest brother had taken over the family dairy farm. My three sisters were all married with kids and my other brother, who was closest to me in age, was gay and living it up in Europe, where he’d been for the last few years.

We chatted easily and Lea made me feel relaxed and heard, neither of which were things I’d felt very often. My past was so locked up that I struggled to open up to people for fear of revealing my secrets, but she made words fall from my lips like water spilling from a broken dam.

“I love your accent,” she giggled before taking a sip of her iced tea.

“I could say the same about yours. You sound like royalty.”

She snorted, coughing and spluttering as her drink went down the wrong way. When she finally caught her breath, she rolled her eyes. “I’m not sure anyone has ever compared my London accent to that of royalty.”

“Well, I like it, Sugar.”

A blush spread up her neck and she turned her attention back to the rest of her burger.

“So, how long are you staying with the boys?” I asked, pushing my empty plate away and wiping my mouth on a napkin.

“I’m flying back with them when they finish the tour next week. You’re coming back with us, right?”

“I guess so. If I’m not fired.”

The corners of her mouth curled into a soft smile. “You’re not fired. Dawson’s a good man. He was just trying to protect Fox and, I guess, to some degree, me. He didn’t want anything leaking to the press. You were new, and he thought the worst.”

“I would never—”

She stood, moving back to sit next to me, placing her hand back on my thigh. “I know. But well, the people that own the record label, The Cosmic Gods, they had a lot of issues and I think everyone that works for them is hyper vigilant to stop anything like it happening again.”

“Oh yeah, like what?”

“Erm, stalkers, shootings, stories being leaked, kidnappings, and that’s just some of it.” My eyes widened. “I hope you didn’t come to join their security team for a quiet life,” she laughed. “Right, you pay the bill and I’m going to treat you to an ice cream and you’re going to tell me whether you just like watching or if you have an urge to join in.”
