“Well, she wanted to pop one in my kneecaps. Do the math.” I sighed with a soft groan at the headache that formed. “But, I can’t blame her.” I really couldn’t. If I were Angel, I’d do worse to me.

Running a hand through my face, I leaned back in my chair and looked at Stepan fully as he leaned against the door frame with his arms crossed. “No, you really can’t blame her. No offense, but for a smart leader like yourself, that was one stupid ass fucking decision. I mean, I can understand your good intentions behind it, and maybe it’s because I’m outside the relationship that I can see how bad of a ‘present’ that was. Or maybe it’s because I’m the only one out of the four of us that has a functioning brain.”

Well, I couldn't argue with him there because he was the smartest out of all of us, or at the very least the one with the functioning brain. Pretty sure the rest of us only had half a functioning brain on a good day.

“Either way, one of my men got back to me about the location of our stolen shipment of weapons. You game?” Stepan’s subtle way of begging me to go and take the lead because lord knows he hates leading raids.

Forcing a small smile on my face, I chuckle under my breath. “Yeah, like hell am I going to let you have all the fun.” Hopefully it’ll take my mind off of the issue with Angel, because I sure as hell had no idea how to approach it without making a damn fool of myself.

Sighing heavily, I push myself out of my chair almost reluctantly. “Meet you out front in a bit.” No way in hell would I go in sweats and a t-shirt—unless I had a death wish that is.

It didn’t take me long to change into my tactical gear and stock myself up with knives, guns, and extra magazines. On the way out, I grabbed the black duffle bag filled with assault rifles from the safe of the arsenal room before hopping into the SUV with Stepan.

Pulling out his tablet, Stepan showed me the layout of the warehouse and shipyard we were going to raid in a couple of minutes. “That’s one heavily guarded warehouse.” It wasn’t a big one either, so thirty guards seemed rather excessive.

Looking closely at the tablet, I couldn’t help but tense my jaw as I took note of the amount of guards. “That bugs me because honestly, the shipment they stole wasn’t even much in value or quantity. So, why throw such caution at it? Also, the other thing that bugs me is the location of the warehouse.”I voiced my thoughts out loud as I continued studying the information.

No way in hell this was a coincidence. Gritting my teeth, I let out a short huff before speaking again. “I want the place torn apart from twenty-feet underground to the fucking rooftop. They’re hiding something. No way in hell is someone stupid or desperate enough to guard a small shipment of weapons with thirty armed guards.” Then the fact the warehouse was within both triad territory and Ivan’s made it damn clear there would be more than meets the eyes.

“I managed to round up fifteen of our men and Lev. I plan on taking two for the rooftops, so that leaves you with Lev and thirteen others. I’ll deal with the guards on the rooftop with the two snipers I’m taking.” Stepan told me his plan as he looked through his duffle bag, digging out a magazine clip and filling it.

“Looks like there’s two entrances, one to the north and the south. I’ll take eight of the men and cover the north entrance while Lev can take the rest and cover the south. I’ll relay all of this when we meet up in a bit.” I wasn’t worried about the fact we had less men than the enemy. We were all trained to militaristic levels, most—nearly all—of the men who worked for us were ex-special ops soldiers. We weren’t run of the mill thugs with guns and knives.

It didn’t take us long to reach our destination where everyone waited. True to my word, I relayed the plan to everyone before splitting the teams up.

Slipping the earpiece into my ear, I waited for everyone to come online. “I want at least one alive for questioning, but the more the merrier.” I spoke through the communications system.

No doubt Ivan had his hands dipped in this mess, and I wanted answers he wasn’t going to give. Well, hopefully his men were more than willing to squeal like the swine they are. I would deal with Ivan later once I can get a better idea of what his play was.

“Everyone in position?” I asked, waiting for everyone to give me the clear before giving the command to breach.

Rounding a corner, my arms shot out, grabbing one of the perimeter guards in a chokehold. “Two options: I kill you, or you answer our questions. Tap my arm if you want to go with option two, if not then I’ll slit your throat right now.”

When the guy made no indication of going with the latter option, I didn’t hesitate to pull my knife out and slice him from ear to ear, being sure to dig the knife deep to sever his arteries completely.

Letting the gurgling body drop to the ground, I continued forward, only stopping once I got to the door to wait for everyone. “I’m at the door.” I whispered through the communicator, waiting for a response from Lev and my men before kicking the door down and filing into the building.

Some poor sap who stood behind the door when I kicked it flew into some crates and was knocked out cold. At least that was one person we could question later. The guy who got a headshot from me probably won’t be talking any time soon—or ever.

Looking over at the man next to me, I nod at the unconscious guard. “Tie him up.” The man gave me a nod and went over to the unconscious man while I pushed forward with the others.

Ducking behind a crate, I avoided a shot from the guard ahead of me who continued to unload his clip at me. I waited until I heard the telltaleclick clickof an empty clip then lunged from behind the crate, tackling the man to the ground and punching him square in the face. Grabbing him by his head, I slammed it into the ground, knocking him out. Then, I pulled out the zip ties from my pocket and secured the man’s wrists and ankles before hiding him in a crate and continuing.

The initial fact there were thirty guards somewhat unsettled me, but after seeing how easily it was to take them down, I could see why they needed so many. All the guards were idiots with weapons, only a few knew how to aim and shoot correctly. Guess Ivan couldn’t afford good help.

Even though my men and I were half of the hired guards, we took them out with ease and no casualties on our side. Thankfully we managed to capture a few for questioning, and those guys were being moved to one of our bunkers for holding until tomorrow.

“Anything?!” I shouted after prying open another crate to reveal bricks of cocaine.

“Drugs and more drugs over here!” One of my men shouted from a corner of the warehouse.

“I found our stolen shipment! Everything is still intact!” Lev shouted from his spot.

“What do you want to do boss? Want to take everything back with us?” The man standing next to me asked as he looked through the crate with me.

“No. We’ll only take our stolen shipment back and any other weapons we find, everything else gets dumped into the ocean.” I didn’t care for the drugs, and it would take too much effort and resources to test all the supply here to make sure it’s safe for distribution. Last thing I wanted to do was kill off our clientele with poorly cut coke.

“Hey boss, you might want to see this.” Another called me over, waving his hand for me to come his direction.
