“We could,” I say as the waiter approaches and delivers their drinks. Ken orders us both a pink lemonade, and the waiter spins around, disappearing before I continue. “But that’s one of the things I wanted to talk to you about. There’s no big hurry to look at dresses yet.”

Kristie freezes, her straw only half unwrapped as she meets my gaze worriedly across the table. “Oh.”

“Did you decide to change the date?” Ryan asks instead.

“Umm, yeah.” I shift a little in my seat and try not to appear nervous, even though my chest is fluttering wildly. "I know we told you March, but it looks like we're going to have to push it back to November.”

I frown a little, even though I'm not actually upset. I just don't want to give away the secret yet. While I really wanted a spring wedding, fall is just as good, in my opinion.

"Well, that’s fine," Kristie says, her voice solemn. "We haven't bought our plane tickets yet. Is it at least going to be in Florida?”

I nod. “Yeah, the venue is the same.”

Kristie takes a long sip of her drink and leans back in the seat. “What made you decide to change?"

Ken and I exchange glances, and my excitement bubbles up, twisting in my stomach until it threatens to explode out of my pores. I can't keep it in any longer.

"Well," I say, looking back at her, "it'll be kind of hard to fit into my dress with a baby bump."

The table falls silent, and everyone stops moving. If it wasn’t for the mumbled conversations of nearby customers and the faint 50s music playing from the overhead speakers, you could hear a pin drop.

Heat rises in my cheeks.

"Excuse me?" Kristie gapes, her mouth hanging open. "Baby bump?Bailey, are you pregnant?" Her voice raises an octave at the end, making me giggle.

I reach for my purse and pull out the ultrasound from this morning, passing it across the table to her. She snatches it up, her gaze softening as she stares at the black and white image, and her alphas take her momentary silence to congratulate us.

“Congrats,” Ryan says, slapping a hand on Ken’s shoulder. It’s a little awkward, given their close proximity in the booth, but he makes it work.

“That’s exciting,” Cruz adds, swishing his long black bangs out of his eyes. “Congratulations.”

Denzel is beaming, watching Kristie as she looks at the ultrasound, and I can almost swear he’s wondering when they’ll follow in our footsteps.

Hopefully soon.

"Aww," Kristie coos. "I don't know exactly what I'm looking at, but I'm so excited. Wait… what does A and B mean?"

Everyone falls silent again, and she meets my gaze over the edge of the glossy photo. “Bailey…”

"It means twins," Ken says, a proud smile on his lips. "We're having twins."

Kristie’s eyes widen, and I swear, I see tears brimming in them. She pokes out her bottom lip, looking like she might cry, before looking back and forth between Ken and me.

“You guys,” she says, her voice quivering. “You mean Auntie Kristie is going to havetwobabies to spoil?”

I nod, the corners of my eyes prickling as I see how emotional she is. Instantly, I know I made the right choice for my Maid of Honor and the godmother of my children, and if it wasn’t for the waiter arriving, I’d move to hug her again.

Things might look much different than they did a few months ago, and even though none of this is what I’d planned, it’s everything I could ever want.

It might be the happily ever I didn’t think was possible, but it’s really only the beginning…
