“Why go to all the trouble of making people believe you’re dead?” Glitch mutters as I stand with Spark.

“The better question is, who knew? Cause that motherfucker was there to see my sister. I need to speak to her.” I turn to leave but don’t get very far.

“Easy, Little Mouse. We have to do this right. First, we get Lucy. Then will take care of your family.” I grind my teeth but nod.

“Fine. We’ll do this your way for now.” He kisses me and doesn’t stop until someone dog whistles.

“Glitch, I need a location. Priest, see what you can dig up at the hospital.” He starts issuing orders, and the room starts to empty as people go to do their tasks.

When it’s just Spark and Wolf left, I sigh.

“I never liked crowds. Hard to hide in them.” I look around the room and smile at pictures of the club.

“Easy to get lost, though. You’ve been alone a long time.” Wolf’s observation of my life sends a cold shiver down my spine.

“Not anymore. Now you have us. More importantly, she has me. Say goodbye to loneliness.” I snort as I turn to face him.

“I’m already sick of you.” I smile and blow a kiss at him.

“You love me.” I roll my eyes.

“Love to hate you.” Wolf chuckles, but Spark grins.

“Same difference, Little Mouse. Hate is just the other side of the love coin. You can’t have one without the other. As long as you feel one for me, you’re stuck.” He comes to me and hugs me tightly.

“Let’s go home. We need to clean up before we get Lucy back.” Those words make my heart beat faster, but the thrill of having my little girl back is gone too quickly.

What if she doesn’t want to come with me?

“Hey, don’t think like that. She’s going to love you just like I do. Relax.” I choke up and spit my fears out.

“I don’t know how to be a mom. I never learned. She was taken from me before I had a chance. I don’t know what to do…” He soothes my back, but it’s Wolf’s words that bring me back from the brink of the panic attack I could feel starting.

“Parenting has no rules. Love them, protect them, nurture them. You’re going to fuck up as much as them. As long as they’re a decent human beings, you did your job.” He smiles at us as he walks out to join his wife and son in the main room.

“He sounds so confident. His kid looks okay. Guess he knows what he’s talking about.” Spark chuckles.

“He’s learning just like you will. He only found out about Deacon a few months ago and has become SuperDad overnight. He knew firsthand what he needed from a father and is giving that little boy every damn thing he never had. That is what being a good parent is.” I think over what he says the whole ride home.

Can I be what Lucy needs me to be?

I’ll die trying.

I’ve only been in bed a few minutes when Issac crawls in behind me and cradles me in his arms.

“A shower has never felt so damn good.” He kisses my neck and cups my breast.

His nose rubs up and down my jaw, and I tilt my head to give him better access. He pinches my nipple and then rolls it between his fingers, drawing a long hiss from me.

“You like a little pain with your pleasure. Noted.” He pulls my chin and, once he can reach my lips, devours me.

I turn into him and wrap my arms around his neck. My fingers pull on his hair as he kisses down my neck to suck the nipple he’s been torturing. His warm mouth engulfs it, and I arch my back, chasing the need I feel to have that wet suction lower.

“Needy Little Mouse.” He bites my nipple, and I hiss.

“Told you I bite.” Before I can tell him to fuck off his fingers and graze my clit.
