Chavez doesn’t speak immediately. His gaze flicks between us, then he leans back slightly with a smirk firmly planted on his lips.

“Raul.”

“I don’t even know what the fuck that means,” Legacy grunts.

“I want Raul delivered to me, alive.”

“Is there a reason you can’t get him yourself?” I blurt out, unable to hold my tongue.

Chavez shrugs a shoulder. “No reason. I just don’t want to. Do this for me, and I’ll discuss giving the girl back.”

I bite the inside of my cheek. I’m so ready to kill this motherfucker. He acts as if he’d be doing me a favor by giving me my own goddamn wife back. Growling, I try not to say anything. I don’t want to make things worse, and I don’t want him to walk away and take her somewhere or hide her.

“Get that in writing?” Legacy asks.

There is a moment of silence, then a door behind him opens, and we all snap to attention as he moves toward the table and places a piece of paper down on the center, then turns around and walks back from wherever he came from and closes the door behind him.

“Contract,” Chavez murmurs, placing his fingers in the middle, then slides it toward Legacy.

ChapterThirty-Six

ITCH

My heart races.

I don’t know what the hell is happening here, but there is talk of more contracts and Raul. If this asshole just wanted Raul dead, he could have done that easily without all this drama. He didn’t have an issue killing Dutch at all.

“I want the Dead Phoenix to disintegrate completely. I want the Devil’s Hellions and the Hell’s Souls to do that. So, works out perfectly that you’re together.”

“What does that mean for us?” Duke asks. “Devil’s Hellions won’t be working with you in the future, so you’re barking up the wrong tree if you think they’re going to be part of your operation.”

Chavez doesn’t look fazed by that information. “Yes, they will,” he states, then he flicks his attention to me. “If you want her back, you will.”

Fuck.

There is no way in fuck I’m going to force the club to continue to do this kind of shit if they want to go legit. Not for me. Refusing to look at Piper, I shake my head once.

“Devil’s Hellions are going legit. There’s no deal to make for any kind of future service. Piper is mine, though. You don’t have a contract proving otherwise, do you?”

I ask the question knowing that he likely doesn’t because if he did, Dutch would have already provided it to get what he wanted, which was to sell Piper off to the highest bidder, this fucker sitting in front of me.

Chavez stands, his eyes shifting from mine to Duke’s, then he smirks again. “You have one hour. I’ll be back, and if it’s not signed, her cunt is mine to turn out.”

He wraps his hand around Piper’s bicep and forces her to stand. I start to move, but Roadkill and Agony wrap their fingers around my shoulders and keep my ass planted in the chair, even though the only thing I want to do is beat the absolute shit out of this asshole.

Without another word, that door that opened earlier pops open again, and the two of them disappear. I feel helpless, and that makes me angry. Shrugging off Agony and Roadkill’s hands, I reach out for the contract, slamming my palm down at the center of the document before sliding it toward me.

“You cannot give up your wife,” Legacy murmurs. “You care for her.”

I do care for her. I’ve fallen in love with her. I haven’t even told her that yet. I haven’t had a fucking chance. I’ve been so busy trying to get the club shit handled, ruin Raul and Dutch’s business, and deal with fucking Tempt and her bullshit. That fucking bitch did me no goddamn favors.

“I can’t ask the club to get involved with this man either, not when we all agreed to go legit,” I point out.

Duke clears his throat as he takes the papers and begins to read them. “He wants women,” he announces. “And cars to transport them.”

“We do not deal in skin,” I grind out. “I refuse.”

“You want your wife back? You don’t have a fucking choice,” Duke mutters.
