“That is Logan,” I state. “Don’t really do business with him much anymore.”

I try really hard to seem as if I don’t give a single fuck about him. But Diaz must know more than he’s saying because he grins slowly. “Yeah?” he asks. “Then why have you called him more than once in the past month?”

Fuck.

I could lie, try to make something up, but the truth is easier in this situation. “I was fucking his sister. She dipped, and I was looking for her.”

Logan growls. I’m being an asshole, but I can’t let this asshole know that I wasn’t just fucking Reese, that I was goddamn in love with her. That is a whole situation that this asshole doesn’t need even an inkling about.

“She hot?” Diaz asks.

I have to bite the inside of my cheek to keep from growling. Crossing my arms over my chest, I grunt. “You got me here to talk about bitches?” I ask. “How about we get this shit done, whatever the fuck it is, so I can go back to my real fucking job?” I snap.

“Fine,” Diaz grinds out. “How do you propose we fix this? Logan here sold us bad shit, and you guys delivered it, then killed Raul. As far as I’m concerned, you’re all guilty.”

Duke takes a step forward. “How in the fuck do you come up with us being the ones who killed Raul or the bad shit? I don’t know a goddamn thing about either.”

Lies.

But who am I to say a damn thing? It’s not my place at all. What is my place is to be here as backup, or whatever the fuck. Support. Whatever that shit means. Honestly, I’m here for Reese and no other fucking thing.

REESE

Another long night. Not just long but extensive. And I’m exhausted. I’m not just tired, I am simply drained. There is nothing left inside of me at all whatsoever. Charley locks the door as the last customer walks out of the room, and I let out a heavy sigh.

I’ve been working here for a month. Tomorrow, I have a doctor’s appointment. My first one. I’m so nervous and excited. I already know that I’m pregnant, but I want to see the baby again. I want to see how much it’s grown and make sure I’m doing everything I need to be doing.

“You got something you want to tell us?” Charley calls out as he begins to move through the bar and pick up the empties.

Pressing my lips together, I kick off my high heels and pretend to be busy counting my money. Pretending to have not heard him, I move around the bar, still in an effort to avoid answering the question.

“Reese,” Justin calls out.

Tilting my head, I look over at him. He’s got a brow raised and a rag in his hand. “We already know. You should just spit it out.”

“You know?” I ask.

He hums. It’s clear they want an answer from me, and I don’t think I’m going to get out of this. I’m not going to be able to avoid anything. I take a deep breath.

“I’m pregnant,” I mutter.

Silence. I try to keep busy, but since neither of them says a word, slowly, I lift my gaze and find their eyes. Charley has moved around and is standing a few feet in front of me, Justin behind him.

“Okay, then, where’s the father? Or is that who’s been stalking you?” Charley asks.

I could tell them the whole story, but that wouldn’t be fair to Kiplyn or Agony. They have known me a hell of a lot longer, and I have kept so many things from them in some kind of effort to protect them.

Although, maybe it was more along the lines of needing to protect myself.

“He’s not the father,” I whisper.

Their eyes widen, then Justin chuckles. “He know about it, the father?”

Shaking my head, I clear my throat and turn away from them. I can’t handle this. It’s too much, too intimate, too personal. I feel the need to get the hell out of here—to run as fast and far as I can.

“No.”

I make myself busy, moving around the bar in hopes they will just drop it all, and thankfully, they do… almost.
