Charley wraps his fingers around the back of his neck and squeezes, most likely to relieve the pressure there. I have no doubt he’s stressed out about this whole ordeal, but nobody is as amped up as we are.

We have three women and two babies missing. I open my mouth to tell him that, to remind him we are in a race against time. I know we’re supposed to meet up with Douglas tomorrow, but we all want our women back immediately.

“What the fuck, Charley. You need to tell us what the fuck is going on with this asshole,” Legacy grinds out.

Charley drops his hand from his neck, and I watch as it falls to his side. His eyes find Legacy’s, and he jerks his chin. “Let’s all have a seat,” he offers.

Legacy clears his throat. He looks like that’s the absolute last fucking thing he wants to do right now, but we are a big-ass group, so he turns on his heels and walks toward the conference room. It feels like this is a nightmare that will never have an ending.

Once we’re all seated at the conference table, we turn toward Charley. He, thankfully, decides to speak and tell us everything he knows about Douglas.

“Douglas isn’t just a controlling, abusive asshole,” Charley begins. “I started looking into him a little deeper when he got the jump on Justin. It’s not often that any kind of man gets the jump on men like us, so I knew something was up. I knew there was more.”

He pauses for a moment, sucking in a deep breath before he continues. “The way he always found Reese. I’ve never seen a woman hide as well as she did. She changed cars more than once. She used only cash. She ditched her phone. I started thinking about it. How the fuck did he find her?”

I snort. “Yeah, I had men looking for her, and nobody could fucking get a lock on her. She goddamn vanished into thin air.”

“We know now it was Logan. Her brother fed him information, but I want to know why the fuck that shit was going on in the first place. Logan claimed he was a goddamn fed. Is he not?” Roadkill asks.

I’m curious as fuck, too. Leaning back in my chair, I search the men, my gaze flicking between the others in the room, who are all staring at Charley intently. There is a moment of silence as he scrubs his palm down his face before he lets out a heavy sigh.

“If Logan is a fed, he’s so deep undercover that my contact can’t find any trace of him in the system. Which is surprising. My contact isn’t just a field agent; he’s a little higher up than a nobody, and he said he’s got no fuckin’ clue who Logan is.”

“So, it’s bullshit,” Itch grinds out. “He fucked us. He got us to agree to transport these women under the guise that the feds wouldn’t throw us in prison. And Diaz and his men? What’s happening with them? We do this once to keep the peace, and what about next time?”

He’s not fucking wrong.

“What happens with Diaz?” I ask. “I know what I want to do.” Arching a brow, I smirk as my gaze flicks around the room.

The room is quiet.

“Diaz dies,” Duke announces. “He started this shit, and I agreed because I wasn’t ready to leave the Hell’s Souls.”

“But?” Legacy asks when Duke doesn’t continue.

Duke places his hands on the table, his index finger tapping against the wood before he continues. “Because we already left. Bond and I walked out today. The Hell’s Souls let us free.”

“Free?” I ask, blurting out the word.

“Free,” he confirms with a nod.

“Fucking free,” Bond growls. “I was able to give up my presidency. I talked to the chapter president, and he understood our reasons. After everything I have done for the club, he said he was cool with us bowing out.”

It doesn’t make sense to me. That seems far too fucking easy. No way in hell would we ever just let two of our members walk away like that, especially not a president and a vice president.

This smells.

It fucking reeks.

REESE

I look around, trying to figure out where Douglas is taking us. He passes by hotels and houses and keeps going straight out into the middle of nowhere.

Into the desert.

My heart starts to race at the thought of him leaving us in the middle of the desert somewhere. We wouldn’t survive a day in the heat, not me being pregnant and the two babies.

He doesn’t stop in the desert, though. He turns down a dirt road and continues to drive for what feels like hours until a warehouse appears. I want to turn around and tell my friends that everything is going to be okay, but I don’t because I’m not sure if it is.
