He snorted. “Please, Morgan. I can’t think of a worse place in Aercanum for you to be right now. And to be there without me...”

I felt his body tense.

“This Fenyx. Be wary of him, Morgan. I don’t like what you’ve told me.”

“I thought you’d be more curious about Orcades,” I said lightly, trying to draw him away from a subject I found equally troubling.

“She’s a subtle woman with her own plans. Arthur has clearly played right into them, like a stupid boy.”

“Do you think she’s cast a glamor over him?”

He shrugged. “Perhaps. Does it matter? Would you care?”

I thought for a moment. “No. If anything, I’m more concerned for her than for Arthur. Is that odd?”

“She’s your sister. She didn’t harm you directly. She simply... didn’t help you. I suppose you’ll have to figure out whether she means you harm or not now.”

“My only sister, and it’s already so complicated.” I sighed.

Draven laughed. “I doubt she’s the only one, Morgan. Gorlois was prolific with his offspring.”

Now it was my turn to tense. Gorlois. I disliked even hearing the name.

“What is it?” Draven looked curious.

“I still can’t believe he’s my father,” I said carefully. “Everything I’ve learned so far suggests he’s an even worse man than Uther was.”

Draven touched my cheek. “I can see how that must be unsettling.”

“He wanted me for something. And my mother wouldn’t allow it. Do you think Orcades can tell me more about it all?”

“Perhaps. All you can do is ask. She’ll keep her secrets, I have no doubt. She probably has enough to fill an armada of ships. But maybe she’ll let a few slip. You are her little sister after all.”

“Maybe I can convince her I mean her no harm. That I’m willing to be an ally.”

“Just be careful of how much you reveal, Morgan. Your powers... Well, even among fae, they are rather unique.”

I wasn’t sure if he meant my abilities with fire or the new ones I’d gained from our mating. But either way, I nodded.

“I have to go.” Reluctantly, I sat up in the bed.

“Go?” Draven tilted his head. “Go where? You’re sleeping back in Camelot.”

“I know. And now I need to wake up.” I glanced around. “Um, how do I do that exactly?”

Draven seemed amused. “Pinch yourself. Or, here, I can do it.” He leaned forward and pinched me in a particularly soft spot and I squeaked.

“I’m still here,” I complained.

“Maybe I should have pinched harder.” He leaned forward and I moved away. “Or bit.” He grinned ferally and I felt my heartbeat speed up.

“I don’t have time for that,” I said, trying to retain a measure of dignity as my nipples puckered in the firelight at the thought of Draven’s teeth on me.

I slid out of the bed. “I’ll simply will myself to wake,” I decided.

“This should be interesting,” Draven muttered, folding his hands back behind his head and watching as I stretched out my arms and closed my eyes.

“Wake up,” I said out loud.
