There was also something about Fletcher that made her feel completely safe. She was more than capable of handling herself, but his powerful aura and presence definitely added to her own feeling of security.

Fletcher quickly changed the subject from the letters to her work situation.

The clothing line had obviously been a big hit for all shifters, not just in his kingdom but in the others as well. Fletcher was helping her get the word out and expand her business even more. She was thrilled that he liked her work and took such interest in her passion instead of stifling it or harassing her to be a stay-at-home wife who was only involved in royal matters.

She knew she had to get involved in them eventually, but she was putting a hold on that, especially given her cold welcome from the kingdom.

Madison finished what she had loaded onto her plate and guzzled back her coffee.

“I’m off to bring home the bacon,” she teased as she picked up her plate and cup.

“You don’t have to do that,” he reminded her like he did every day.

“I know, but manners are just one thing I can’t break,” she responded with a smile.

She felt his eyes on her backside as she sauntered into the kitchen.

When she came back, Fletcher had adjusted himself in his chair with his foot stretched out on the strap of her bag.

She knew what was coming.

“So, when are we going to set a date for our mating ceremony?”

Madison rolled her eyes and reached for her bag.

Fletcher hooked his foot in it and jerked it toward him.

“I don’t know.” She swiped at her bag and missed.

“You’ve been saying that this whole time. What, don’t you like me?” he asked with a wink.

Madison’s heart ached. She wanted to go through with it, but she wasn’t ready, not with the hate from his kingdom as well as not knowing his true feelings toward her.

She wanted to protect herself from any unnecessary pain.

She put on her mask and played the game. “Of course I do. Who couldn’t with that piece of yours?” she complimented, nodding toward his dick forcefully enough to distract him and let her snag her strap away.

“Hey!”

She giggled and turned to head to work.

“Madison.”

Fletcher didn’t call her Madison unless he was serious. She already knew that from the months she had been there.

She turned, not wanting to have this discussion again.

“We do need to come up with a date for the mating ceremony. I don’t see why you don’t want to make this … us … official.”

She looked at him, unable to find another valid excuse.

“We will. I just don’t have a good idea right now. I’m busy with work and distributing our new product. I have to focus.”Lame, Madison.

Fletcher didn’t buy into it either. “Seriously? You sound like a teenager trying to get out of a date.”

“No, that’s not it.”That’s pretty much exactly it.“I just …”

“What am I supposed to say when my mother comes by asking me when we are doing this and why we haven’t set a date yet?”
