“I just did.” She tosses her hair. “We’re done, Miles.”

He grabs her shoulders and wrenches her back. “No we’re not.”

Shanel cries out in pain.

I step forward but, before I can intervene, Shanel slaps Miles.

The smack echoes in the air.

Turns everything to ice.

To stone.

“Didn’t I just tell you to stop hauling and pulling me?” Shanel yells. “Didn’t I talk English?”

Miles grabs his cheek, disbelief crackling in his voice. “Who the hell are you?”

“Not your fiancée.” She stands straight and tall, chest heaving and eyes crackling like burning ember.

I’ve never seen anyone more beautiful.

Anyone more perfect.

I need this girl.

My pants tighten.

I want this girl.

Damn.

Shanel stomps out of the room.

I glance at Miles who’s nursing his cheek. We’ve been tight for years. I’ve always done what’s best for B4. But right now?

Ah, screw it.

I chase Shanel out into the hallway. “Hey.”

She glances up, her eyes narrowed. “What?”

“I have an announcement to make.”

“So?”

“Stay put.”

“I have things to do.”

I step into her path and level her a dark look. “You asked me not to grab your wrist anymore. Work with me.”

Her eyebrows crash into a V.

“Stay there,” I demand.

She scowls at me but remains in place.

I lift my voice. “Everyone, listen up!”
