He did not just call me out.

“Why would I do that?” I cross my arms.

He clamps down on my waist and thrusts me against the wall. His hand curves up against the small of my back, bringing me forward so his arm absorbs most of the shock.

I gasp as he steps into me, his hard body hovering close enough to send tingles over my skin but far enough away that we’re not touching.

He leans down.

I inch away but, with his arm around me and the wall at my back, there’s nowhere to go.

Hawk’s lips brush my ear. “Nice try.”

My knees buckle.

His fingers brush up my arm, to my elbows, to my neck.

I pant from his touch.

Press my thighs together.

Dig my fingernails into the wall.

The expensive, masculine scent rolling off him weaves a spell over me.

I close my eyes, but his face is imprinted on the back of my eyelids.

Everything disappears.

The girls staring at us.

Catherine.

The hallway.

My stupid insecurities.

There’s nothing but Hawk.

His mouth.

His stare.

His presence.

He’s filling my vision, my head, everything.

It’s so much, having that laser focus on me.

But it’s…

It’s invigorating too.

I realize that if I’m not careful I could very easily become addicted to this feeling.

Hawk pulls back to declare over me, “You’re mine.” His thumb rubs a circle at the corner of my waist. Right where I cut a big hole into the T-shirt.

I regret that move now.
