“Diana, I work for him,” I replied.

“That was not an answer. So I will answer that for you. Yes, you kissed him. Now I understand why you’re so upset. But let’s stay focused. How was it?”

I huffed, wiping my tears away. “How was what?”

“The kiss? Did it get you weak in your knees? Or maybe even better. Did he make you wet?” Diana teased.

“I’m not joking. I’m going to end this call. And I might even block your number,” I warned angrily.

“Fine. So you two kissed. No big deal. Unless he didn’t like it or is married, then it is a big deal,” she stated.

“No. He’s not married. And I didn’t kiss him, he kissed me.” I think he liked it. I mean I did.

“Oh, now that is a different story. So was it…horrible. Does he have a horrendous breath or something? Or maybe you laughed while he was kissing you, because trust me, guys don’t like it when you do that,” she said.

“Of course not.”

“To which of those questions,” she asked.

“To both of them. As your friend, I’m telling you this with love. You’re strange. I have no idea where your head is at half the time.” I snapped.

“I know exactly what I am saying. I love you too and you’re welcome,” she stated firmly.

“For what?”

“For taking your mind off the reason you were crying,” she explained. “Which by the way, unless you’re hurt physically, is no reason to cry.”

“You don’t understand,” I sighed.

“I do. You like the guy and you’re afraid of him seeing your ear and then he gets turned off. But you’re not even giving him a chance. For all you know, he has scars that he doesn’t like either. Have you asked him?”

“Of course not. It’s not like that comes up in a conversation. ‘Hey, I’ve got this ugly scar that is gross to look at. Do you have any?’ Maybe my dates are not as exciting as yours are,” I stated.

“You ended up getting kissed and in a pool. Pretty exciting to me. But then again, the last guy I dated only wanted to go bowling. And that was just so he got extra practice because he was in a league.”

“Oh, yeah, I remember that guy. I think you told me he said that it was okay if you just sat there and watched him play. I can’t believe you went on more than one date with him,” I said.I wouldn’t have even lasted through the date. That’s what they made UBER for.

“What is Draven like on a date? I bet he’s a perfect gentleman,” she sighed.

Actually, he was. He thought of everything. He made me feel comfortable and I was more relaxed with him than with most people. “He’s nice, but for the record, we arenotdating.”

“Oh, that’s right. Just kissing, not dating,” she teased.

“Not funny. It just happened, that’s all,” I replied.Just happened to say I wonder if my lips tasted like butter. I can’t help it if he thought I wanted to be kissed.

I snickered and she asked, “What’s so funny?”

This whole thing was now looking back. “I take it back.”

“Take back what?” she asked.

“I’m the strange one. I get one kiss and I’m bawling my eyes out like it’s something more,” I replied, with a heavy exhale.

“Kinsley, it might not be the kiss. It might be who kissed you. Have you given that any thought? Maybe you like him more than you’re telling me. Maybe more than you’re willing to admit to yourself.”

God, I hate you sometimes.

“What I feel doesn’t matter. He’s my boss,” I reminded her.
