I wasn’t positive, but I bet it was dead after taking a dip in the pool. My battery had been low so thankfully I had left mine in my room or I’d be without a phone as well.

It would be easy to use the phone in the room and call his room. Simple. Less awkward. But after speaking to Diana, I felt bad. He didn’t deserve for me to walk away like that. All he was trying to do was show concern and I acted…ungrateful.

Looking in the mirror, my hair was curly, but dry enough that it covered my scars. I was dressed ready for bed, and definitely couldn’t show up at his door like this. I stripped off my tank top and PJ shorts and slipped on a sundress that I had purchased with Reesa. A bit overdressed for an apology, but my other options weren’t clean.

I’d bring my cell phone with me, but no pockets. Really didn’t care who was calling me tonight, because there was only one person I wanted to see.

A couple of minutes later, I was standing at his door. Not knocking like one would usually do. Instead, I placed my left ear to the door listening to see if he was still awake. I heard nothing. Then again, the resort hadn’t spared any expenses and the doors were quality.

“Can I help you?” a deep voice said from behind me.

I spun around and found another one of Bennett’s security men standing there. “I was just visiting a friend.”

“It didn’t look like you were visiting. May I ask what you were really doing?”

“I wasn’t trying to break in or anything. I was just listening through his door.”Oh God, that sounded creepy.“Not in an inappropriate way or anything.”

“Why don’t we knock and see what he feels about that?” The man stated and knocked.

Oh shit.

This was going to be so embarrassing. Draven opened his door and didn’t see me, mostly because his view was blocked.

“Mr. Blaze. Were you expecting anyone?” he asked.

“Nope.”

“Well, this young woman was lingering by your door,” he stated.

I didn’t realize I had been holding my breath until he didn’t mention the awkward position I had been in.

I stepped out from behind him and just said, “Hi.”

“Kinsley, I’m glad you’re okay. Want to come in?” he asked.

The security guy realized that there wasn’t a problem and walked away.

“I didn’t want to bother you, but I..l felt horrible about how tonight ended. I…I had water in my ear and needed to get upstairs right away to get it out.”Can’t believe I’m lying to someone I care about.

“That’s okay. I’m glad you weren’t hurt. But seriously, did you want to come in? Don’t know if you noticed, but I’m not really dressed for the hallway.”

I noticed he wasn’t wearing a shirt, and as my eyes traveled down his hair-covered chest and over his abs, they stopped at the white towel wrapped around his waist.

“No. I...I…don’t think it’s a…good idea. I…just wanted to let you know…that…that I was okay and that…that I’m sorry.”

He laughed. “Why don’t you wait here a minute and I’ll put on some clothes,” he said.

Draven closed the door, and I felt my cheeks burning.God, it’s not like I’ve never seen a half-naked man before. Yet here I was, stammering and not even able to take my eyes off him. If I thought listening at his door was embarrassing, drooling at the sight of his body was a hell of a lot worse.

It would be a good idea if I left while he was dressing, but walking away twice in one night wasn’t a good idea. Then again, going into his suite wasn’t one either. I leaned against the wall and waited, contemplating what to do.

The same security man strolled back down the hall. “I see you’re still here.”

“Yes, I am. No need to knock again. I’m just waiting for him to get dressed,” I explained.

He smiled and continued on his way.Damn it. You enjoyed that, didn’t you?

The door opened and Draven was wearing a pair of jeans and a T-shirt. “Want to come in now?”
