“Who said I’m coming back?” I asked.

Reesa laughed. “So much to learn. Have a good day, Kinsley.”

“Good night, Reesa.”

She ended the call and went to sit back on my couch. Still holding my cell phone, I went through Draven’s text messages. It was the first time I read them.

SWEETHEART, PLEASE TALK TO ME. LET ME EXPLAIN.

Shit.

SWEETHEART, I NEVER MEANT TO HURT YOU. PLEASE TALK TO ME.

Damn it.

KINSLEY, I KNOW YOU’RE ANGRY. YOU SHOULD BE. I’M AN ASS. BUT PLEASE, TALK TO ME. LET ME KNOW YOU’RE OKAY. I JUST NEED TO HEAR YOUR VOICE. CALL ME.

I wanted to hear his voice too. Reesa said that I needed to let him explain. She never said that I couldn’t call him to check how he was doing.

My finger traced his number over and over again. Call? Don’t call? What should I do? I hadn’t done the right thing yet so what makes me think I will do so now?

I almost leapt out of my skin as my phone rang. Please be Draven.Checking the caller ID I let out a heavy sigh. It was Diana.

No point in ignoring her call as well. She would just show up at my door if I did.

“Hello Diana, what’s up?”

“I’m coming over with Marley.”

“Why?” I asked.

“Because I have to go to work and he wants to play with his aunty Kinsley.”

“I amnothis aunt,” I reminded her.

“Fine. You tell him that. But I bet you can’t. He’s got the cutest eyes that will melt your heart,” she said.

No. Draven already did that. And my heart is still in Tabiq.

“Fine. Bring him.” I had nothing better to do anyway. And he would help keep my mind off Draven. Mostly because Marley got into everything. I liked my apartment the way it was. In one piece.

I got up and cleaned anything I thought Marley would chew or hump. He wasn’t as particular as Diana made him out to be. That dog needed some training.

It only took Diana a few minutes to get here. Sure enough, there was a knock on the door. I opened it and she was standing, holding Marley up in her arms.

“His food is in the bag. I’ll pick him up on Monday,” she said.

“Wait? What are you talking about? It’s Friday,” I reminded her. “You said you were going to work.”

“Oh, yeah. I meant away for the weekend. Love you. See you Monday,” she said, handing him to me and dashing off.

I looked at Marley and said, “You knew all about this didn’t you?” Marley gave me a lick on the cheek. “Don’t try getting out of it. You’re just like your mother.”

Marley gave a little bark and I put him down. Instantly he went to my couch and jumped up.

No, you don’t. Not the pillows.

This was going to be the weekend from hell.
