“Funny how it always comes back to me,” I said.

He kissed me quickly and said, “Everything is about you, my love.”

“Don’t get distracted. You were telling me that you’re not business partners with Damien.”

“Yes. I explained to him that he needed to focus on his wife and family.”

“That’s a good thing,” I replied.

“And that I needed to do the same,” he stated.

I blinked a couple of times. “So, you want to focus on our relationship?”

“Yes and no. Kinsley, I want you to be my partner in life. In all things. That is if you want to,” he said.

“So, you want me to be your new business partner?” I asked, puzzled. Reesa was right. When it came to Draven, I couldn’t read him at all.

He shook his head and laughed. “I’m not talking about business. I’m talking about us. You and me. Getting married and starting our own family.”

“Draven, did you just ask me to marry you?” I asked, my heart pounding out of my chest.

“Yes. Obviously, I did a poor job at it. Let me try this again.” He dropped down on his knee and said, “Kinsley, I love you with every cell of my being. I thought my life was complete until you showed me how empty it was. You are the one that I want to share everything with, but most of all, my heart. Yes, Kinsley Beck, I’m asking, no, pleading with you, be my wife. Let me spend the rest of my life showing you how happy you make me.”

“Yes. I will marry you. Yes, I’ll be your partner in all that life brings us. I love you, Draven. More than those three words can ever describe.”

He kissed and got up off his knee. “I have a ring. Honestly, I do. But it’s packed in one of these suitcases,” he said.

Wrapping my arms around his neck I said, “The ring can wait. This can’t.” I kissed and he pulled me close.

When the kiss ended, he asked, “Do you want me to call and cancel our meeting?”

I shook my head. “No. Because if I understand correctly, you not only want me as your wife, but as your business partner.”

“Exactly,” he replied.

“Then as your business partner, we don’t cancel a meeting to make love,” I said.

He laughed. “Well, not all the time at least.”

I shook my head and said, “Let’s unpack while waiting for them to arrive.”

He nodded and I grabbed a hair tie and pulled my hair up into a bun on top of my head. We hadn’t even made it through one suitcase when there was a knock on the door. I looked at Marley and he lifted his head, but not one peep out of him. Wow, all that time and training was paying off. I like this new version of him.

“I’ll get it,” I said.

“Sweetheart, your hair is still up,” he said.

I reached up and felt the bun. I was about to take it down and thank him for reminding me. I realized something. I’d never forgotten to do that before. It no longer mattered to me. I wasn’t worried about someone seeing my scars because the man I loved made me feel beautiful anyway.

Dropping my hand to my side I replied, “No, I’ll get the door.”Just the way I am.

Draven rushed up behind me and pulled me into his arms. “I love you.”

I smiled up at him and said, “I love you too.”

Neither of us was the same person we were when we had met. Both of us had grown in ways that we never thought possible.

I guess it’s true. Love can heal all wounds. You just need to allow it.
