And God help her, she’d wanted to take a step closer, drawn to him like a moth to a flame.

Even her mouth had watered at the thought of licking all of that delicious skin. Her body had instantly reacted, her pussy heating so much she thought her silk gown would melt right off her body.

Ezul had eaten up the distance between them, snatching her up in his arms roughly. While any rational person would have been terrified of the sexy alien growling in her face, Cordelia was surprised to discover she was definitely not a rational person.

Not at all.

Because she’d been excited to see him again. To know he was unharmed after she’d left him to his fate.

And when he’d threatened to take her over his knee and spank her? He hadn’t even been flirting with her, he’d been threatening to punish her for abandoning him in that cave. But none of that mattered to her traitorous body; she’d become wet immediately.

How could an alien make her rampant with desire when no human in her life had ever come even close?

What kind of sense did that even make? Absolutely none.

Cordelia would have blamed the pollen for the insane attraction she felt whenever she thought of Ezul, especially after he’d held her in his arms that day. But the effects of the weird sex plant had eventually tapered off while she’d been imprisoned in the ground, her sexual needs having been neglected for too long.

The pollen hadn’t influenced her carnal urgesat all. She’d simply been aggravatingly attracted to Ezul. Not that he felt the same way, all giant spiders considered.

He had been rude and arrogant, making it very clear that he despised her. Which wasfine, really. She didn’t need to harbor any feelings for him anyway, and his hatred made it all the easier for her to ignore her own emotions.

For the most part.

Cordelia shook her head. She needed to get Ezul off her mind and focus on escaping her new prison.

Unlike Delilah, Cordelia hadn’t been granted her freedom from the harem life since she wasn’t a mated woman. Instead, she’d been given a sentence of one year of servitude. She wasn’t required to sleep with anyone, but did that even matter?

She’d never asked for this, never wanted to be on Aragnok. And now that Delilah was confirmed pregnant with Sahin’s child, the first pairing of a human and an Aragnokan in history, Cordelia felt like a bomb was ticking over her head.

At any minute the government could decide that Cordelia needed to procreate to help them out. And she was terrified that by then she wouldn’t have a choice in the matter.

It wasn’t her problem that she might be the answer to helping Aragnok solve their population crisis. Cordelia obviously sympathized with their struggle, but it wasn’t her responsibility to save a dying race. She wasn’t a baby factory; she was a person.

What if she had a baby and the Aragnokan government took it away from her? Delilah was safe because she was mated and Sahin looked like he would slaughter anyone who came near her, but Cordelia? She had no one to protect her.

She was alone. Just as she had been for her entire adult life. Earth. Aragnok. It didn’t matter the location, the loneliness was still the same.

“Cordelia!” Alesanda called from across the room, drawing Cordelia from her morose thoughts. “Are you sure you wouldn’t like to attend the festival with us?”

“No, thank you,” she replied somewhat pleasantly, though she was unable to keep the bite from her voice. Not that Alesanda deserved it.

Cordelia had learned early on that Ezul was Alesanda’s bed buddy, though she hadn’t seen him here since she became a permanent resident. Regardless of it being none of her business, Cordelia found it impossible to befriend the woman, which wasn’t Alesanda’s fault at all. The woman had been lovely to her the entire time.

It was Cordelia’s dumb emotions that made no sense.

She sighed, eyes locking on the door to her prison as Alesanda and the other women began to filter out from the room and down the stairway in a single file. A few adjusted their sheer silk gowns until their breasts nearly spilled free from the top of the material.

Cordelia glanced discreetly about the room, hoping she had kept the eagerness from her expression as she watched them depart.

The only person left with her would be the guard outside in the hall, but with the door closed and the entire room soundproof for privacy, she was free to move about without being monitored.

Perfect.

She stood quickly from the bed, the green of her gown clinging to her thick thighs and curvy ass. No matter how much running or hot yoga she had attempted back on Earth, she’d never been able to get rid of them.

She slowly made her way to the window on the far side of the room, nervous energy thrumming through her body.

The window blessedly overlooked a courtyard with glowing orange vines that clung to the walls of her prison, giving her a convenient ladder down.
